~~~ <br />MINUTES OF THE MATING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THB CITY OF NORTB OLt~ffiTSD <br />FEHRIIAAY 3, 1976 <br />Present: Councilmen Beaty, Boebmer, Coggin, Beringer, Sharpe, west, wilamoaky. <br />Also present: Mayor Ralph Christman, Law Director Micheal Gateau, Finance <br />Director iiillamm Gerlach, Ssfsty Director Raymond Carnahan, Service <br />Director Henry Caster, City Roginesr J. Howard Childs, Clerk of <br />Council Nara Mill. <br />Absent: President of Council Lampert. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Pro Tem Beringer at 8:00 P.M. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of January 20, 1976, were approved as read. <br />Mayor Christ~a reported: 1) introduced Patrolman R. Hart and Detective M. <br />Gannon of the North Olmsted Police Department who received 3ohio Shield A~rards <br />for their part in apprh~ing three robbers who broke into a gas station at <br />Hatton & Lorain Rds. Besides the plaques, the Police Officers earned a cheek <br />for the North Olmsted Police Fund in sums of $250. Twa North Olmsted residents, <br />Mr. Jay Gartner and Nr. James Gartner, also received checks in accumulated total <br />of $254. far citizen participation to this effort that successfully apprsheed <br />the robbers. Mr. J. M Gencarelli, Retail Sales Manager of Standard Oil Co~-any <br />was also introduced; <br />2) the North Olmsted Bicentennial Committee in cooperation with tht North Olmsted <br />Historical Society is undertaking a project and that is the moving of an early <br />settler's cabin from its present location on Colvm~ia Rd. into Metropolitan Park <br />and the rsatoxatfon of this cabin. The cabin was built around 1820 - sad <br />it will ba rased unless efforts are made to save it. The BtCentennial castes <br />is applying to the State and Federal Government for a grant to help in tAt rye. <br />Total cost of moving the cabin end restoring it ao that it is suitable for <br />display as a muaewn is estimated at $13,400. The amount of the grant which is <br />being applied fox is $5,000. The Historical Society has indicated a willingness <br />to spend $1,200 to help in the move. They have worked up in-kind labor and <br />services in the amount of $4,100. At this time, would like to push this pro,~ect <br />out into the Community to get cooperation and community participation in the <br />raising of $3,100. in cash to make this project feasible fa this bicsatennial <br />year. Hopefully this will be a worthwhile and msmorative project for North Olmsted; <br />3) toboggan run - attempting to make ice; were unable to pour the concrete on <br />the slope and steep incline; but are through the use of freesing ae[cl thk extremely <br />cold weather and soae scow - attempting to make ice on there to get this facility <br />in operation. Should know by end of week whether it wi11 be successful. <br />Service Director Caster reported: 1) at next Finauce Committee Meeting would <br />like to discuss a previouw request for consideration for legislation to <br />authorize for bags for a sewer cleaning jet vehicle and two cars for the <br />Wastewater Treatment Facility. These would both cams under the Bawer Revenue <br />Fund. A3aro would like to discuss a request for legislation authorisizRg the <br />advertising for bids for solid waste disposal; and advertising for bids for <br />chlorine for the Wastewater Treatment Plant; <br />2)recently received a criteria from the Ohio Department of Transportation for <br />the fmplelsa-tation of Ohio Public Mass Transportation Capital Grant Program <br />for 1976-1977. The grant will provide lO~ of the project-cost which wild <br />reduce the local gaverneent share; <br /> <br />
