MTI~"tE8 Oi~ ~'f"8& M~6ETINt3 Of' THE CQt#NGT <br />OF TMS CIT7C tom' 2 1?I <br />JULY 5, 1977 <br />Present: President Dewey Li~ert, Co~eilmen Beaty, Boaz, Fairfield, Sazinger, <br />Sharpe, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Ralph Christman, Lan Director Michael Gareau, FinancE Director <br />William Gerlach, Safety Director Richard Koharik, Service Director lhmary <br />Center, Clerk of Council Nora Rill. <br />Absent: Councilman West <br />Meeting was called to order by President Lampert at 8:00 P.M. <br />President Lampert stated the first portion of this meeting is a Fublic Rearing oa <br />the estimated budget for 1978 and askad for any co~enta. Mr. Fair€ield prasesttd <br />his comd~nts. There being no other cots President Lampert declarerci that portio» <br />of meting adjourned and proceeded into Council Meeting. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of June 21, 1977, were approved as rea'_. <br />Mayor Christman reported: 1) on June 23rd received notification from Todd Coyer of <br />the U.S. E.P.A. that we would be receiving $23,943 on Contract 11, the Intercepting <br />Sewer Contract. This brings funding up to a full SSX of the $SI1,101 co~ctruction <br />costs; <br />2)today received from the RTA a letter stating a proposal that the tsxm3s~ron date <br />of the Agreement between North Olmsted and RTA be extended from October 5, 1977 <br />to October 5, 1978, with negotiations bet+reen the parties to ~e ~t later <br />than May 5, 1978. RTA agrees to this arrangement a~-d requests that the City of <br />North Olmsted approve such an extension. Mayor Christman coafiraaad aiCte 1~at <br />Director Gareau that the exteansion of the contract time will require leg#slation <br />and requested same be put into Transportation Committee; <br />3)today received letter from Cleveland Electric Illuminating y stst~g that <br />an Wednesday, July 13, 1977, from 6:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. the supe:rviaon of the <br />North Oltpsted Service Center will conduct an open house for employees and interested <br />public. The location is 23675 Lorain Rd. and G.E.I. would like to gat as many people <br />as passible through the Center. Mr. Boehmer stated we are also ask3a$ our paramedic <br />unit to be there and this will give our residents an opportunity to see our parasedics <br />in action. <br />Service Director Caster reported: 1) representatives of the Union axni representatives <br />of the City have entered into negotiations with a new contract of Mettorangsum of <br />Understanding for the as~loyaes heat are in the bargaining unit; that is the Service <br />Department employees and t~ Wastewater Treatment ea~loyees. The P`~ contract <br />expires midnight of July 18th. At present are working on language rasth~r than the <br />economic portions of the co~etract. Expect to wind up the language portioce of the <br />Agreement this week and will attseapt to start oa the economic portiose neat week. <br />If Finance Director or any ers of Covincil would like to be appriaced of these <br />meetings please advise Mr. Caster. <br />Law Director Gareau reported: 1) the laweuit "Burkett vs. the City of I~rth Olmsted" <br />that is the sewage treat lawsuit d+~.iag with the odor from the plaxtt, has been <br />set for trial August 8th; horrow~er, due to s~ problems with respect to taking <br />depositions: Law Director Gareau, ~ behalf of the City, and one of the other <br />defendants have requested depositions aced because the plaintiffs attorneys have not <br /> <br />
