~~ <br />~S aF TitE 'IIiG OF T8S COtJi~CIL <br />OF TAF CITX !~ NORTH OLiffiTE'D <br />MAY 17, 1977 <br />Present: President DeMay Liapert, Councilmen Boehmar, Fairfield, Beringer, Mast, <br />W1lamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Ralph Christman, LaW Director Mic~h~l Gareau, Service Director <br />Henry Caster, City Engineer J~ Howard Childs, Clerk of Council Mara Hi21. <br />Absent: Councilmen Beaty, Sharpe. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Lampert at 8s 00 P.M. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of May 3, 1977, were approved as read. <br />Mayor Christman reported: 1) have received resignation from Mr. Richard Fet~ar <br />from his position on the Landmarks Commission; <br />2) had already received resignation from Mr. Nick Del Giudice from Landmarks <br />Commission and am recommending for Gouncil approval the appointment of Mrs. Betty <br />Lord to replace his term. Council is in receipt of resume of Mrs. Lore, who served <br />during the Bicentennial Program Last year in a research capacity for the historical <br />tour and is active in our local historical society; <br />3) received letter from County Engineer Stackhouse who stated that on April 14th at <br />his request the County Commissioners authorised the County Engineer to post load <br />limits of 12 tons on Claque Road Culvert No. 5 and Claque Rasd Culvert No. 6. Bsve <br />sent this on to our Engineering Department. It will be a problem probably in the <br />enforcement of these load limits; <br />4) would like to recommend that Council consider legislation which would ban the <br />use of high phosphate detergents in the North Olmsted sewer system axes. Over the <br />years, we have watched the results of similar bans in other areas with interest and <br />can see a considerable savings in the cost of phosphate removal checvicals if such a <br />ban were to be implemented. They new have law phosphorous detergents ahi.ch they had <br />not had before and these would be permitted sad cause little or no inconvenience to <br />the housewife. A11 major soap manufacturers new provide a low phosphate d:tergent <br />and Consumers' Report of Decas~tar '76 shows them to be nearly equal in cluing <br />power to the high phosphate detergents; <br />5) A11 Scouts Weekend is planned for June 3, 4 and 5th. The mock council meeting <br />will be at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Juae 4th, and the parade has been moved up sae <br />hour at 1:30 p.m. Council iA in receipt of list of Honorary City Officials -hope <br />everyone can attend and participate in this; <br />6) we have a Comprehensive Youth Services Program in effect through our Department <br />of Human Resources. It is a federal progrs~n for students, ages 14-21, whose families <br />meet certain income qualifications. Students will work for the City as well as the <br />School Board. For further information you should call Mr. Don Copeland at the <br />Department of Human Resources. This plan worked out well for us last gear sad we <br />hope that we can continue far a successful program this Summer; <br />7) Mr. Copeland has also made plans for a Bicycle Tour of North Olmsted to take <br />place on June 11th, 9:00 a.m. - 1:15 p.m., departure point at City Hall. There are <br />four stops - Frostville Museum, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Fire Station #1 sad <br />Rec Complex - a total of 6.5 miles.
