~--c <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />of THE czTY of NORTH oLxsTED <br />JUNE 20, 1978 <br />Present: President Dewey Limpert, Councilmen Beaty, Boehmer, Logan, Petrigac, <br />Beringer, Sharpe, Wilamosky. <br />Also present: Mayor Robert Slrietynia~ski, Law Director Michael Garesu, Fin+so~ce <br />Director Robert Broekt~rem, Safe y Director Bugene Petre, Service Director <br />Joseph Corrigan, Clerk of Council Nora 8111. <br />Meeting was called to order by President Li~ert at 8:00 P.M. <br />Minutes of Council Meeting of June 7, 1978, were approved as read. <br />Mr. Beaty moved to a~eeuid the agenda in order to amend Ord. No. 78-82. Motion <br />seconded by Mr. Boehmer. Mr. fflagraeRy stated he has spoken on this in the past <br />and stated his reasons why he is reccrmaending that Council reject this motion and <br />adopt the ordinance as currently written. Mr. Beaty stated he will respond to this <br />at the proper time. Affirmative ate: Beaty, Boehmer, Kogan, Petrigac. Negative <br />vote: Beringer, Sharpe, Wilamosky. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Beaty moved to aid Ord. 78-82 by adding a position of senior dispatcher, <br />who will be one of four dispatctrers, seconded by Mr. Boehmer. Mr. Beaty stated <br />reasons for the creation of the position; what the fob involves, etc. ~. r <br />stated his reasons why he feels the p+e-sition is needed. Mr. Wila'osky discussed <br />same. Affirmative vote; Beaty, Boehser, Logan, Petrigac. Negative vote: Sar#at~per, <br />Sharpe„ Wilamosky. Motion carried. <br />Mayor Swietyniowski reported: l) the annual Fourth of July fireworks will be held <br />Tuesday, July 4th, at Great ~rthern S~wpping Center. Program caste are tieing <br />shared by the Great Northern X11 Merah#aaae' Association, Great Northern Partnership <br />and the City of North Olmsted, tsar ts~ sponsoriship of the North Opted Jaycees. <br />We are most proud of this cooperative venture and would like to extend our th~a-k <br />to the groups who are participating and working to make this holiday an en3oyable <br />one. This is a fine example of arty sg#.rit and is sure this year's prograffi <br />will be an excellent one. The rain date has been scheduled for Sunday, July 9th. <br />2) the $125,000 LEAA grant app2lcatican which we have been working on is maw <br />complete. We are seek~ang funding for a cr~a prevention program to be co+~durcted <br />in the schools in partnership with the Pol#c~s Department and the City of Mox~h Olmsted. <br />After numerous meetings with representativsa from all groups, our paparaork is <br />finished and the applicat~,on will be hsnd~livered to Washington on June 27th. <br />Criminal Justice Coordinating Council repres~eaatative, Fred Saabo, who has worked <br />with us on this and on previous grant applications feels, as we do, that our chs~ces <br />for success are good. Much hard work has gone into this application. While are <br />are aware that any LEAA grant has a better chance of success if it comes from a <br />distressed area, we are still ~peful since the program we are proposing is a new <br />approach to an on-going problem; <br />3) proclaimed the w+eek~end of Jaty let, 2nd and 3rd as International Soccer Weeksnd <br />and congratulates tbs. players, ceactu~s, ~wtreAts and spectators; <br />4) had apre-construction melting with E?tMttT cx< the section of I-480 between Grace <br />Rd. and Macluensie Rd. which was award~ud to the Horvitz Compaety; the section bet~etn <br />Mackenzie Rd. and the County Line has been awarded to Great Lakes Construct~t Cb., <br />as well as the section between Grace Rd. and the City Line.
