MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />DECEMBER 5, 2023 <br />Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Gilchrist, Glassburn, Hemann, Madden <br />and Scarl. <br />Also Present: Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones and Director of law Gareau, H. R. Director, Economic <br />Director, Safety Director, Service Director, Recreation Director, Special Assistant to the <br />Mayor and guests. <br />Absent: Council Members Limpert and Williamson <br />Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover <br />Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance <br />The Council Meeting Minutes of November 21, 2023 were approved as written. <br />Council President Brossard advised those in attendance that there will be a shortened amount of time <br />for public comment, as we need to end the meeting by 9:00 p.m., to accommodate the Acting Clerk's <br />time restraints, who is filling in due to a slew of illnesses. <br />The following legislation was considered for suspension of the rules. On second reading Ordinance 2023- <br />141. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Jones: <br />• 3Z continues with leaf pick-up in the City. They completed two of three contracted passes <br />across the community. Each pass of the leaf pick-up will begin on the east side of North <br />Olmsted and move through the City, ending on the west side, weather permitting. <br />• Older Driver Safety Awareness Week is December 4-8, 2023. Between 2012 and 2021, the <br />United States population of people 65 and older increased by 29%. In 2021, 7,000 people 65 and <br />older were killed in traffic crashes in the United States accounting for 17% of all traffic fatalities. <br />• The "Holiday Hangout" was a big success. Hundreds visited Springvale Ballroom for a dose of <br />Holiday fun. <br />• Mayor Jones swore in North Olmsted's newest Police Officer, Patrick Kelly, earlier that day. <br />• Last week the Mayor swore in Frank Boulton as the newest member of the Arts Commission. <br />• The Arts Commission is again sponsoring its Holiday Home Decorating Contest, which continues <br />to grow in popularity each year. Deadline for entries is December 10'h and the homes will be <br />judged by Commission Members from December 13 through 20. Winners will be announced on <br />Friday, December 22nd. <br />
