<br /> r <br /> - 2 - <br /> seating capacity are maintained in operation to assure a seat for every <br /> person desiring to become a passenger except in periods of rush or peak <br /> service; unless in such period sufficient coaches of sufficient seating <br /> capacity are placed in operation to maintain an average of four seats for <br /> every five persons desiring to become a passenger; unless the coaches shall <br /> be modern, clean, properly heated and ventilated, free from Pasoline, oil <br /> and motor fumes and odors, fireproof, constructed to assure the safety of <br /> passengers in case of collision or accident, and in conformity vrith the <br /> specific requirements of this ordinance; and unless such operation is <br /> conducted with courtesy and consideration toward passengers, persons desiring <br /> to become passengers and other users of the streets. <br /> The minimum schedule for operation of coaches hereunder shall be <br /> as follows: <br /> On all days other than Sundays and holidays; Between the <br /> hours of 5 A. LZ. and 8 P. L~. a base schedule of not more <br /> than thirty (30) minutes interval and a rush or peak <br /> schedule of not more than fifteen (15) minutes intervel. <br /> Between the hours of 8 P. 14. and 1 A. h4. a schedule of <br /> not more than one (1) hour interval. <br /> On Sundays and holidays: Between the hours of 7 A. E. <br /> and 10 P. P,4. a schedule of not more than one (1) hour <br /> interval. <br /> When and if the number of persons desiring to become passengers <br /> shall exceed the number that can be furnished vrith seats in the proportions <br /> above specified while maintaining operations on the above minimum schedule, <br /> the Company shall furnish and operate additional coaches and shall so <br /> adjust its schedule as to make the intervals between any such added operation <br /> and those irmmediately preceding and follovri.ng it as nearly uniform as possible. <br /> Y'ahen and if the nunber of persons desiring to become passengers <br /> shall be such as to show a probability that operatior_ of an additional coach <br /> above the number then being operated would maintain upon said additional <br /> coach and the next following an average gross income of at least x;4.50 per <br /> round trip., the Cornpaxry shall furnish and operate such additional coach and <br /> shall. adjust its schedule so that the intervals between it and those pre- <br /> ceding and following it shall be as nearlg~ uniform as possible. <br /> Provided, however., that nothing herein contained shall be construed <br /> to require or permit the Company to operate coaches hereunder in greater <br /> numbers or at shorter intervals than shall be found by the P.'_ayor of the <br /> City of Lakewood to be consonant with public welfare and safety* and vrith <br /> the reasonable convenience of other users of the streets. <br /> The period of rush or peak service in vrhich the Company is authorized <br /> to furnish service with less than an average of one seat per person desiring <br /> to become a passenger shall not be greater than one and one :alf hours in <br /> any period of six consecutive hours. <br /> SECTION 3: The service furnished shall be express service designed only for <br /> -];os~ <br /> e r3ers who may board. for a ride entirely within the City of Laketivood <br /> or bet-^reen points in the City of Lakewood and the City of Cleveland as <br /> hereinafter provided. Eastbound coaches after entering the City of Cleveland <br /> shall accept no passengers and shall male no stops except as required because <br /> of traffic conditions or in obedience to traffic regulations and except to <br /> permit passengers to alight at the Public Square, and such points east of <br /> <br />
