- 12 - Section hS~ No person shall ride a bicycle unless it is equipped with a bell or other device capable of giving an audible signal, except that no bicycles shallbe equipped ~ith nor shall any person use upon a bicycle any siren or whistle~ Section ~9. (a) The driver of a vehicle shall not overtake and pass upon the left or drive upon the left side of any street car proceeding in the same direction, w~ether such street car is actually in motion or temporarily at rest, except: 1. When so directed by a police officer or traffic control device; 2. When upon a one-way street; 3o V~hen Upon a street wbere the tracks are so located aa to prevent compli- ~ucewith this section. · (b) The driver of any vehiclew~nen permitted to overtake and pass upon the left of a street car ~nich has stopped for the purpose of receiving or discharging any passenger shalll accord pedestrians the right of way. Section 50. The driver of a vehicle overtaking upon the right any street car stopped for the purpose of receiving or discharging any passenger shall stop such ve- hicle at least five feet to the rear of the nearest running beard or door of such street car and thereupon remain standing until all passengers have boarded such street car or upon alighting have reached a place of safety, except that where a safety zone has been established a vehicle need not be brought to a stop before passing auy such street car or trackless trolley but may proceed past such street car or trackless trolley at a spesd net greater than is reasonable and proper and with due care for the safety of pedestrianso Section 51~ (a) The driver of any vehicle proceeding upon any street car tracks in front of a street car upon a street shall remove such vehicle from the track as soon as practicable after signal from the operator of said street car. (b) The driver of a vehicle upon overtaking and passing a street car shall not turn in front of such street Car unless such movement can be made in safety~ Section 52. No vehicle shall at any time be driven through or within a safety 2~ne~ Section 53e No person shall drive a vehicle across a railroad grade crossing ~hen: (a) A clearly visible electric or mechanical signal device gives warning ef the immediate approach of a train; (b) A crossing gate is lowered, or when a human flagman gives or continues to give a signal of the approach or passage of a traine Section 5~. (a) The operator of any motor vehicle or t~ackless trolley, carry- iB~ passengers for hire, or of any school bus, or of any vehicle carrying explosives, or flammable liquids as a cargo, or such part of a cargo as to constitute a hazard, before crossing at grade any track or tracks of a railroad, shall stop such vehicle or trackless trolley, and while so stopped shall listen through an open door or open window and look in both directions along such track for any approaching train, and for signals indicating the approach of a train, except as hereinafter provided, and shall proceed only upon exercising due care. After stopping, looking and listening as required herein and upon proceeding, the operator of any such vehicle shall cross only in such gear of the vehicle that there will be no necessity for changing gears while traversing such crossing and the operator shall not shift gears while crossing the track or tracks° (b) Every operator who is convicted of or pleads guilty to a violation of this section shall be fined not to exceed fifty dollars for the first offense and for a second offense shall be fined not to exceed one hundred dollars or imprisoned in the city or county jail not to exceed thirty days, or both. (c) This eection shall not apply at street railway grade crossings within the City of Lakewood, or to abandoned tracks, spur tracks, side tracks~ and industrial tracks when the public utilities commission of Ohio has authorized a$~ approved the crossing of such tracks without making the stop required in this sec~mon.
