Section ~6-5. Every stop sign shall bear the word "stop" in letters not less <br />than six inches in height~ Every stop sign shall be located as nearly as practicable <br />at the proper line of the street at the entrance to which the stop must be made, or at <br />the nearest line of the cross-walk thereat$ or, if none, at the nearest line of the <br />street. <br /> <br /> Section 56-6. Every operator of a vehicle, street car, or trackless trolley <br />shall stop at such sign or at a clearly marked stop line before entering an inter- <br />section except when directed to proceed by the police officer or traffic control signal. <br /> <br /> Section 57. No person shall stand, or park a trackless trolley or vehicle <br />except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or with the provisions of <br />this ordinance, or in compliance with the directions of a police offioer or a traffic <br />control device, in any of the following places: <br /> <br />(a) On a sidewalk, except a bicycle. <br /> <br />(b) In front of a public or private driveway. <br /> <br />(c) Within an intersection. <br /> <br />(d) Within ten feet of a fire hydrante <br /> <br />(e) On a crosswalk, <br /> <br />(f) Within twenty feet of a crosswelk at an intersection. <br /> <br /> (g) Within thirty feet upon the approach to any flashing beacon, stop sign or <br />traffic control signal~ <br /> <br /> (h) Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within thirty feet of points <br />on the curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless a different length <br />is indicated by a traffic control device. <br /> <br />(i) Within fifty feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing. <br /> <br /> (j) Within twenty feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station on the <br />side of a street opposite the entrance to any fire station within seventy-five feet of <br />said entrance when properly sign-posted. <br /> <br /> (k) Alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when such stand- <br />tng, or parki~ would obstruct traffic. <br /> <br />(1) Alongside any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge or curb of a street. <br /> <br />highway <br /> <br />(m) Upon any bridge or other elevated structure upon a highway or within a <br />tunnel. <br /> <br />(n) At any place where signs prohibit stopping. <br /> <br />(o) Within one foot of another parked vehicle. <br /> <br /> Section 57-1. No person shall stand, or park a trackless trolley or vehicle ex- <br />cept when necessary to avoid conflict m~ith other traffic or with the provisiens of this <br />ordinance, or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or a traffic-control <br />device, in ~uy of the.places, or for l?nger periods of time, or during the. hours spec- <br />if led, as may be applmcable and as desmgnated in Sections 57-2 to 57-11, mnclusive, or <br />as designated in the Regulations promulgated by the Director of Public Safety as pro- <br />vided for and authorized by, this ordinance. <br /> <br /> Section 57-2. Parking on streets the pavement of which is 26 feet or less in <br />width shall be restricted to one side thereof. No person shall park a vehicle at any <br />time on that side of any such restricted street or part thereof designated by the Mayor <br />as no parking area, after signs are erected giving notice of such no parking. In <br />designating the area of and along the side of any such street in which there shall be <br />no psrking, the Mayor shall take into consideration the location of fire hydrants and <br />other conditions on or adjacent to such street or part thereof° <br /> <br /> <br />
