16 - <br /> <br /> Section 57-1~, (a) The Director of Public Safety may, on application made by <br />the owner or occupant of any building issue a permit to such owner or occupant to mark <br />with white paint a portion of the curb not exceeding twenty feet in length in front of <br />such building at whiCh portion of such curb no vehicle shall stop, except while dis- <br />~harging passengers or merchandise at stated hours set forth in the permmt.' The permit <br />issued in such cases shall designate the portion of the curb to be marked and the time <br />of day during which vehicles may not stop as provided for herein. <br /> <br /> (b) The person to whon such permit is issued shall be reouired to display a <br />sign erected on a stanchioh set at the c~rb setting forth the hours during which ve- <br />hicles may not stop as provided herein, The stanchion shall carry in words and figures <br />the following: "Permi~ Number ", and in the blank space shall be inserted the <br />number of the permit~ The permm-'i~-~ereby authorized may be revoked at any time by the <br />Director of Public Safety~ <br /> <br /> Section 57-15o (a) The Director of Public Safety is hereby authorized and re- <br />quired to establish bus stops and taxicab stands on such public streets in such places <br />and in such number as he shall determine to be of the greatest benefit and convenience <br />to the public, and~every bus stop and taxicab stand shall be designated by appropriate <br />signs~ <br /> <br /> (b) It shell be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle other than a bus to <br />stand or park in an officially designated bus step, or for any vehicle other than a <br />taxicab to stand or park in an officially designated taxicab stand, except that the <br />driver of any passenger vehicle may temporarily stop in any such stop or stand for <br />the purpose of and while actually engaged in the loading or unloading of passengers. <br /> <br /> (c) It shall be unlawful for the driver of any bus or taxicab to stand or <br />park upon any street in any businsss district at anyplace ether than at a bus stop or <br />taxicab stand respectively, except that this provision shall no~ prevent the driver <br />of any such vehicle from temporarily stopping in accordance with other stopping or <br />parking regulations at any place for the purpose of and while actually engaged in <br />loading or unloading passengers, <br /> <br /> Section 57-16o In addition and subject to the specific provisions of this <br />ordinance relative thereto, the Director of Public Safety is hereby authorized to <br />promulgate regulations designating street areas wherein (1) parking shall be limited <br />to specified periods of time or (2) there shall be no parking at any time, when in his <br />judgment the public safety requires such limitation° No such regulation shall permit <br />parking in any of the places specifically prohibited by this ordinance or by law, nor <br />shall any such regulation limiting the time of parking or forbidding parking be deemed <br />to apply on Sundays, Holidays other than Satt)mday afternoon, or between the hours of <br />6:00 P,No and 7: A.M. unless the regulations and the sign evidencing the sane speci- <br />fically so state° Such regulations shall become effective upon delivery of a copy <br />to the Chief of Police of the City of Lakewood, upon publication once in a newspaper <br />of general circulation in the City of Lak~wood, and upon erection of signs sufficient <br />in number to apprise the ordinarily observant person of the existence of the regula- <br />tion and shall continue to have the force and effect of ordinances until rescinded <br />by the Director of Public Safety or disapproved by ordinance of Council. Violation <br />of any such regulation shall be subject to the provisions and penalties provided and <br />prescribed in Section Il0 and Section 111 of this ordinance and to the waiver pres- <br />cribed in Section ll2e <br /> <br /> Section 58° Vehicles crossing from one side of a street to the other shall <br />turn to the left so as to head in the sane direction as the traffic on the side of <br />the street toward which the crossing is made, provided that in congested districts <br />no vehicles shall turn or cross in a street between street intersections uuless it <br />does so without backing to make the turn. <br /> <br /> Section 59. No person or vehicle shall drive, ride or be driven through a <br />procession without the permission efa police officer. <br /> <br /> Section 60o No person shall load a vehicle with iron or other material with- <br />out deadening said material, sO that it may not strike together and cause unnecessary <br /> <br /> <br />
