the road surface by any vehicle exceed, for pneumatic tires seventy-eight thousand <br />pounds; nor shall such weight of vehicle and load exceed, for solid tires eighty per <br />cent of th~ permissible weight of vehicle and~oad as provided for pueumatic tires~ <br />In this section the word vehicle shall mean any single vehicle when not in combination, <br />or any combination of vehicles~ as defined in section 6290 of the General Code of <br />Ohio~ <br /> <br /> Section 68-1. Weighing of vehicle and load required, when: removal of excess <br />load~ (a) Arqv police officer having reason to believe that the weight of a vehicle <br />and load is unlawful is authorized ~o require the driver to stop and submit to a <br />weighing of the same either by means of portable or stationary scales and may require~ <br />that such vehicle be driven to the nearest public scales. <br />(b) Whenever such officer upon weighing a vehicle and load, as above provided, deter- <br />mines that the weight is unlawful, such officer may require the driver to stop the <br />vehicle in a suitable place and remain standing until such portion of the load is re- <br />moved as may be necessary to reduce the gross w~ight of such vehicle to such limit as <br />permitted under this ordinance. <br /> <br /> Section 68-2. No vehicle shall be e~rated upon the streets of the City of <br />Lakewood whose width is greater then ninety-six inches, except traction engines, <br />whose width shall not exceed one h~ndred and thirSy-two inches, and no vehicle shall <br />be operated on such streets of a greater height than twelve feet six inches, or of <br />greater length than thirty-five feet, nor shall any commercial tractor and semi- <br />tractor, be operated in combination of a greater length than forty feet~ including <br />load, and no combination cf vehicles coupled together shall be so operated whose <br />totaled length including lead, shall be greater than sixty feet. <br /> <br /> Section 68-3. The following shall be the lengths and weights of vehicles and <br />combinations of vehicles operated under the provisions of this ordinance, subject ts <br />the exceptions, otherwise stated in this ordinance: Each vehicle, length over all, <br />thirty-five feet, gross weight including load, twelve tons, maximum weight per single <br />axle nine tons; commercial tractor and semi-trailer in combination length over all~ <br />forty feet, gross weight including load, twenty-one tons, maximum weight per single <br />axle, nine tons; any other combination of vehicles length over all, sixty feet, grGss <br />weight including load, thirty-three tons, maximum weight per single axle, nine tons~ <br /> <br /> Section 68-h. (a) The Director cf Public Safety may, in his discretion, <br />upon application in writing and good cause being shown therefor, issue a special <br />permit in writing authorizing the applicant to operste or move a vehicle or combins- <br />tion cf vehicles of a size er weight of vehicle or load exceeding the maximums above <br />specified or otherwise not in conformity with the provisions of this ordinance upon <br />any street within the City of Lakewood~ Any such permit may be issued for a single <br />or round tripor in special instances for a certain period of timee <br /> <br /> (b) The application for any such permit shall be in such form as the Director <br />'of Public Safety may prescribe. <br /> <br /> (c) The Director of Public Safety is authorized to issue or withhold such <br />permit at his d&scretion; or, if such permit is issued, to limit or prescribe con- <br />ditions of operation of such vehicle or vehicles, and may require such bond or other <br />security as may be deemed necessary to compensate the city for any damage to any <br />street or street structmre. <br /> <br /> (d) Every such permit shall be carried in the vehicle or combination of ve- <br />hicles to which it refers and shall be open to inspection by any police officer or <br />authorized employe of the City of Lakewood and no person shall violate any of the <br />terms or conditions of such permit. <br /> <br /> Section 69. (a) In case of accident to or collision with persons or property <br />upon any street of the City of Lakewood~ due to the driving or operation thereon of <br />any motor vehicle, the person so driving or operating such vehicle, and having <br />knowledge of such accident or collision, shall stop and upon request of the person <br />injured or any other person, give such person his name and address, and in addition <br />thereto if not the owner, the name and address of the owner of such motor vehicle, <br />together with the registered number of such motor vehicle. <br /> <br /> <br />
