14-77 Amend several sections of Traffic code to comply w/ State

Sect'ion 5. That paragraphs (n), Cb) and Cc) of Section 331.38 of the Traffic Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: Ca) Thc driver of a velficle, meeting or overtaking from either direction any school bus stopped on the highway, shall stop before reaching the school bus and the driver shall not proceed until such school bus resumes motion, or he is signaled by the school bus driver to proceed. Cb) Every school bus shall be equipped with red visual signals meeting the require- ments of Ohio R.C. 4511. 771 which shall be actuated by the driver of the bus whenever, but only whenever, the bus is stopped or stopping on the highway for the purpose of receiving or discharging school children. A school bus driver shall not actuate the red visual signals: (1) In business districts and on urban arterial streets designated by the Department of Transportation or local authorities; (2) At intersections or other places where traffic is controlled by traffic control signals or law enforcement officers; (3}In de~gnated school bus loading areas where the bus is entirely off the: roadway. Cc) Where a highway has been divided into two roadways as set forth in Section 331.31, a driver of a vehicle proceeding on one roadway of thc highway need not stop when approach- ing a school bus which has stoppcd on thc other roadway of the highway for thc purpose of receiving or discharging any school child. Thc driver of any vehicle proceeding on the same roadway of the highway as the school bus shall comply with subsection Ca) hereof. shall be and the same are hereby amended to read as follows: Ca) The driver of a vehicle, upon meeting or overtaking from either direction any school bus atopped for thc purpose of recelvb~g or discharging troy sch(×)l child shrill stop at least Wn feet from the front or rear of thc school bus and slmll not proceed until such school bus resumes ~notlon, or until slgnt}.led by the school bus driver to proceed. The driver of ~y vehicle over~&ing the school bus sh~l comply with subsection Ca) hereoL Section 6. :~That Section 335.07 of the Traffic Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: 335.07 DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION. No person, whose operator's or chauffeur's license, right or permit to operate a motor .vehicle, registration, or nonresidcnt's operating privilege has been suspended or revoked under thc provisions of Ohio R.C. Chapter 4507 (Driver's License Law), or under the provisions of Ohio R.C. Chapter 4509 (Financial Responsibility Law), or under Ohio R.C. 4511. 191 (Implied Consent Law), or under aPplicable law in any other jurisdiction where such license was issued, shall, during the effective dates of such suspension or revocation, apply for and receive a new license or drive any motor vehicle upon the streets or highways of this Municipality under a license, permit or registration certificate issued by any other jurisdiction or otherwise drive any motor Vehicle upon tile streets or highways in this Municipality. This section docs not apply to any person whose license, permit or privilege to operate a motor vehicle has been suspended or revoked for a period of five years under Ohio R.C. 4507.40. shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
