code, by name or by number or by both, shall be those more fully identified <br />in this Chapter by name, number and year or s~mbol of date of issue and the <br />same as may be amended from time to time. In lieu of requirements, not <br />specifically contained in this dwelling house code or in rules or regulation~ <br />promulgated by authority thereof, compliance with standards, specifications, <br />regulations or recommendations enumerated in this Chapter may be accepted <br />by the Building Official as prima-facie evidence of conformity with accepted <br />engineering practice and evidence of satisfaction of common law duty.~ <br /> <br />RDH 1521.15 Staodards for American Standards Association <br />(Repealed~ <br /> <br />Section 1521.15 is hereby repealed. <br /> <br />RDH 1523.03 Footinq Drains (Amended) <br /> <br /> When a floor is below the adjoining ground and subsoil conditions <br /> are such as to permit ground water to accumulate adjacent to the foundation, <br /> footing drains shall be installed alongside the outside face of the base <br /> of the foundation. Such drains shall be not less than 4-inch diameter pipe <br /> of. a type and construction to intercept and carry ground water without per- <br /> mitting the infiltration of soil into the pipe. Footing drains shall have <br /> a continuous slope of not less than 1/16 inch per foot, discharging into the <br /> building storm sewer or other outlet approved by the Board of Building <br />.Standards. See also Sec. 1575.12(a). <br /> <br />RDH 1525.03 Proper Connection (Amended) <br /> <br /> The sanitary outlet from a dwelling house shall not be less than <br />4-inch cast-iron pipe, 5-inch vitrified clay sewer pipe, 5-inch bituminized- <br />fiber pipe and 4-inch PVC and/or ABS schedule 40 plastic pipe and shall <br />connect only to a sanitary or combined sewer system. Sanitary connections to <br />a storm sewer or the connection of storm drains to sanitary sewerage is prohi- <br />bited. Unless otherwise approved by the Building Official, joints in the <br />sanitary sewer ~i~e s?ia~] b~ :~ as p.r,~vi~ed in Section t5~3.5~. <br /> <br />RDH 1525.06 Water Supply Line (Amended) <br /> <br /> All pipe used to carry potable water shall be of new durable <br />material, installed without damage to structural members. The size of the <br />service pipe from the street main shall be determined by the Director of <br />Public Works and shall be of non-ferrous pipe or tubing. All water piping <br />shall be protected against freezing and shall be properly sloped to drain <br />valves so as to permit drainage of the entire system within the building. <br />A main shut-off valve on the main Water supply line serving each dwelling unft <br />shall be provided near the curb and a shut-off valve with drip shall be <br />placed in a readily accessible location within the building. Supply linbs <br />taken from pressure or gravity tanks shall be valved near the tank. <br /> <br /> RDH 1527.04 Minimum Cei'ling He.!.ght (Amended) <br /> <br /> In each dwelling unit, the following minimum ceiling heights a~e <br />established: <br /> Habitable Rooms ................... ~ .......... 7'-6" <br /> Basement or Cel.lar to bottom of floor <br /> joints ................................... 6'-9" <br /> Bathrooms, Toilet Compartments, Utility <br /> Room6. and Habitable Existing Third Floor <br /> Rooms .................................... 6'-8" <br /> <br />provided that rooms with sloping ceilings shall have a clear minimum height in <br />at least 2/3 of their area. That area with less than 5'-0" clear head room <br />shall not be included in the required floor area. <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
