the City, or becomes temporarily disabled from any cause, his <br />duties shall be performed during such absence or disability by <br />one of the officials named and in the above order, under the <br />title of Acting Mayor. <br /> <br />(Upon adoption of this amended Section, the existing Article <br />II, Section 8 of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood <br />shall be repealed.) <br /> <br />be submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the City at the <br />general election to be held on Tuesday, the 3rd day of November, 1981 <br />the regular places of voting in the City and during the usual hours for <br />holding elections as provided in the general laws of the State of Ohio. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the ballot submitting the question of the <br />adoption of the foregoing proposed amendment shall read as follows: <br /> <br /> "PROPOSED <br />CHARTER AMENDMENT <br />CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO <br /> <br />Shall the proposed amendment of Article II, Section 8 of the <br />Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood, Ohio: <br /> <br />ARTICLE II. <br />SECTION 8. <br /> <br />THE EXECUTIVE. <br />ACTING MAYOR. <br /> <br /> If the Mayor dies, resigns or removes his residence from <br />the City, during the term of his office or be removed by the <br />Governor of the State, he shall be succeeded in office by <br />officials named below and the order of succession in such <br />cases shall be as follows: Director of Law, Director of <br />Finance, President of Council, and an elector of the City <br />chosen by a majority vote of the members elected to the <br />Council. If said vacancy occurs more than two years and 105 <br />days before the next regular election to be held for the <br />office of Mayor, his successor shall hold office until the <br />first day of January following the next regular municipal <br />election. If the Mayor-elect dies, 'resigns or removes his <br />residence from the City, after his election but before taking <br />office, the vacancy shall be filled by appointment made by a <br />majority of the members serving on Council at the time of the <br />commencement of the term to be filled and the one so appointed <br />shall hold office until the first day of January following the <br />next regular municipal election. In either such an event, at <br />the first regular municipal election following the death, <br />resignation, removal of the Mayor from the City, or his removal <br />by the Governor, a Mayor shall be elected for such unexpired <br />term. If said vacancy occurs two.years and 105 days or less <br />before the next regular election to be held for the office of <br />Mayor, his successor shall hold office for the balance of.the <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
