review and approval by the Board of <br />Building Standards. <br /> <br />(d) Supplementary Area and Location <br />Standards. <br /> <br />(1) Additional Signs. In cases where <br />the office or business building has an <br />entrance from the side street of a <br />corner lot or has a back entrance from a <br />parking lot open to the public, <br />additional sign area equal to twenty- <br />five (25) percent of that permitted on <br />the front of the building may be used <br />over such entrance. <br /> <br />(2) Shopping Center Identification <br />Signs. In addition to the sign face <br />area permitted for each individual <br />establishment one shopping center sign <br />identifying the name and/or logo of a <br />unified shopping area in the B2 or BR <br />Districts may be permitted, subject to <br />review and approval by the Board of <br />Building Standards. Shopping center <br />signs shall not exceed (40) square feet <br />in area and may be either ground or pole <br />signs, subject to the regulations <br />governing such signs. <br /> <br />(3) Billboards, Portable Signs and Roof <br />Signs. Billboards, portable signs, and <br />roof signs shall not be permitted in the <br />BI, B2, and BR Districts. <br /> <br />(4) Special Signs. Where innovative <br />design is demonstrated, a building <br />utilizing the building design itself as <br />a means to identify or advertise a <br />product or service may be permitted. <br />The design and area of the signage <br />elements shall be subject to review and <br />approval by the Board of Building <br />Standards.
