Accessory signs in the Office B1 and Business-Residential BR <br />Districts shall be designed, erected, altered, moved and <br />maintained, in whole or in part, in accordance with these <br />regulations. <br /> <br />(a) Functional Types Permitted. Business <br />signs, development signs of a temporary <br />nature, directional signs, identification <br />signs, informational signs, nameplates, <br />political signs, real estate signs, temporary <br />signs, and bulletin boards on the lots of <br />public or semi-public institutions. <br /> <br />(b) Structural Types Permitted. Awning, <br />canopy, ground, pole, wall, and window signs. <br />Projecting signs may be permitted if approved <br />by the Board of Building Standards. <br /> <br />(c) Maximum Area and Number Permitted. <br /> <br />(1) Maximum Sign Face Area. The <br />maximum sign face area of all permanent <br />signs permitted for each separate use <br />occupying a building or unit of a <br />building shall be related to the <br />frontage of the building or unit <br />thereof, as determined by the following <br />formula: <br /> <br />Maximum sign face area = (W x 1.5) <br />square feet, except that the total <br />in all cases shall not exceed 120 <br />square feet. <br /> <br />The elements of such formula being <br />defined as follows: <br /> <br />"Maximum sign face area" means the <br />total area of one surface of a <br />permanent sign as defined in <br />Section 1329.04(a). "W" means the <br />frontage of a building as defined <br />in Section 1329.04(b). <br /> <br />(2) Bulletin Board. One bulletin board <br />not exceeding thirty (30) square feet in <br />area or eight (8) feet in height may be <br />located on the premises of a public <br />charitable, or religious institution, <br />but not less than fifteen (15) feet from <br />a street right-of-way line; indirect <br />illumination shall be permitted. <br /> <br />(3) Canopy Signs.
