to be done, without first making application to the Building Commissioner and obtaining a permit
<br />therefor unless such work may be done without a permit.
<br />
<br /> 1306.63 ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, HEATING AND OTHER EQUIPMENT.
<br /> Separate application shall be made to the Building Commissioner and separate permits
<br />obtained for electrical work, plumbing, elevators, moving stairways, power operated
<br />dumbwaiters, heating devices and installations, mechanical refrigeration systems and for such
<br />other equipment and appurtenances for which separate permits are required by this Code.
<br />
<br /> 1306.64 WHEN NOT REQUIRED.
<br /> A permit may not be required for ordinary maintenance or minor repairs that are primarily
<br />replacement of existing equipment with equipment of like type and capacity without changes in,
<br />or extensions of, any utility service line, nor for minor alterations that do not increase the floor
<br />area or affect any load-bearing structural element, provided that permits for such repairs,
<br />alterations or installations are not specifically required by this Code, and provided further that
<br />any such repairs, alterations or installations are made without violating any provision of this
<br />Code.
<br />
<br /> 1306,65 APPLICATION.
<br /> An application for a permit shall be filed with the Building Commissioner on a form
<br />prescribed by the Building Commissioner by the person, corporation, partnership, firm or other
<br />business association who shall perform the work for which the permit was sought.
<br />
<br /> 1306.66 ACTION ON APPLICATION.
<br /> The Building Commissioner shall examine applications for permits, within a reasonable
<br />time after filing. If, after examination, he finds no objections to the same and it appears that the
<br />proposed work will be in compliance with the laws and ordinances applicable thereto and the
<br />proposed construction or work will be safe, he shall approve such application and issue a
<br />permit for the proposed work as soon as practicable. If his examination reveals otherwise, he
<br />shall reject such application, note his findings in a wdtten report to be attached to the
<br />application and thereupon deliver a copy to the applicant. No permit shall be issued until the
<br />applicant has registered on a form prescribed and furnished by the Administrator of the City
<br />Income Tax, the name of the general contractor, subcontractors and ail other persons involved
<br />with the actual construction, the place of business of each, and the person or persons to whom
<br />correspondence shall be directed for each such contractor, subcontractor or other persons
<br />involved. Upon issuance of the permit the Building Commissioner shall transmit such form to
<br />the City Income Tax Administrator.
<br />
<br /> 1306.67 EXPIRATION OF PERMIT.
<br /> Any permit issued shall become invalid unless the work authorized by it shall have been
<br />commenced within 90 days after its issuance, or if the work authorized by such permit is
<br />suspended or abandoned for a pedod of 6 months after the time the work is commenced;
<br />provided that, for cause, one or more extensions of time, for pedods not exceeding 90 days
<br />each, may be approved by the Building Commissioner.
<br />
<br /> 1306.68 FOR FAILURE TO SECURE PERMIT.
<br /> Where work, for which a permit is required, is started pdor to obtaining such permit, the
<br />fees required by said permit shall be double. Whoever performs any work or installs any
<br />appliance, device, or equipment without first secudng the permit required therefor under the
<br />provisions of this Code or other' applicable Ordinances of the City of Lakewood; or refuses,
<br />neglects, or fails to secure any permit for the storage, use, or handling of a hazardous
<br />substance, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.
<br />
<br /> 1306.69 FOR MISREPRESENTATION.
<br /> Whoever perpetrates a fraud or misrepresents a matedal fact by reason of which any
<br />permit or approval required under the provisions of this Code or other applicable Ordinances of
<br />the City is obtained, or pursues any trade or business or performs any work or service without
<br />possessing a License or Certification of Registration which may be required under the
<br />provisions of this Code or other applicable Ordinances of the City, shall be guilty of a
<br />misdemeanor of the first degree.

<br />1306.70 RELIEF FROM PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.
