'(c) For the purposes of this section, "employee" means <br />appointed, elected or under contract, providing se'rvices for ~hney person whether <br />compensation is paid. City for which <br /> <br /> (d) The deferred compensation program established by this section shall exist <br />and serve in addition to retirement, pension or benefit systems established for the <br />benefit of employees of the City and no deferral of income under the deferred <br />compensation program shall effect a reduction of any retirement, pension or other <br />benefit provided by law. However, any sum d~erred under the deferred compensation <br />program shall not be included for the purpOses of computation of any taxes withheld on <br />behalf of any such employee, except munic pal income tax or as otherwise permitted by <br />law. <br /> <br /> 149.19 TUt'T[ON RE:[MBURSEHENT FOR ANNUAL SALARZED <br />EM PLOYEES. <br /> (a) With the approval of the Mayor, DePartment Director and the Personnel <br />Administrator, annual salaried emploYees who have been employed by the City for a <br />minimum of one year, excludingmembers of the Divisions of Police and Fire, may take <br />accredited college courses whic~h have a direct relaUonship to the employees currently <br />assigned position. Employees shall be reimbursed tuition expenses by the City in <br />accordance with the following schedule: <br /> <br />Grade Received Tuition Reimbursement (Percent) <br /> A 100 <br /> B 75 <br /> C 50 <br /> D or lower No reimbursement <br /> <br /> (b) The Director of Finance is authorized to pay the tuition expenses in <br />accordance with the above schedule upon completion of the course by the employee, <br />provided such employee agrees, in writing, to refund the. reimbursement to the City <br />Should the employee terminate his or her employment within one year subsequent to <br />the date of reimbursement. <br /> <br /> 149.20 ZNCENTIVE AWARDS. <br /> The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to establish an Incentive Awards <br />Program for all employees of the City, including first line supervisors such as foremen in <br />the Department of Public Works, sergeants in the Division of Police and captains in the <br />Division of Fire of the' Department of PUblic Safety, but excluding all other managerial <br />personnel~ and elected officials, such Program to be established within the following <br />guidelines: <br /> (a) SuggestiOns to be of two types, those which have a definite monetary <br /> va!ue and thosewhere value cannot be stated in monetary terms although <br /> some intangible value to the Oty results; <br /> (b} For those §uggestions adopted which result in monetary savings to the <br /> City an..awa..rd or up. t.o ..ten p~e_rc_e_n_t, (10%) of su. ch savings but not to <br /> exceeo ~vo mousano oo,ars [$z,uuu) may De made to the employee; <br /> (c) For those suggestions adopted which do not result in monetary savings, <br /> but do have some intangible value to the City, an award of fifteen dollars <br /> ($15.00)to one' hundreddollars ($100.00) may be made to the employee; <br /> (d) There shall be established specific time limits for acknowledgemerit Of <br /> recei pt of suggestions and investigation by the department concerned; <br /> (e) Anonymity and confidenUality of every employee submitting a suggestion <br /> shall be maintained during the investigative stage by the department <br /> involved; <br /> (f) There shall be established a final review committee consisting of the <br /> Director of Public Works of the City, the City Engineer, a member of <br /> Council as designated by Council and the department head of the <br /> department involved; and <br /> (g) Any monetary award recommended by the review committee shall be <br /> approved by the Mayor and authorized by resolution of Council. <br /> <br /> 149,21 3URY DUTY. <br /> An emplOyee of the.City, while serving upon a jury in any court, shall be paid at <br />his or her regular salary rate for each of his or her work days during the period of time <br />so served. 'Rme so served shall be deemed active and continuous service for all <br />purposes. In addition to the compensation provided for herein, any jury fees paid to the <br />employee/juror for service in any court except the Lakewood Municipal Court shall be <br />retained by the employee to compensate for the expenses of jury service. <br /> <br />2O <br /> <br /> <br />
