Sanitary Code.
<br />1739.22 SALE OF UNWHOLESOME FOOD.
<br />No person shall bring into the Ciry, or sell or offer to sell in any market, public or private, any cattle, sheep, hog or lamb, any
<br />meat, fish, game or poultry, or any other food or food products, that are diseased, unsound, unwholesome, or which for any other reason
<br />is unfit for human food. The fact of any cattle, sheep, hog or Iamb being in any stockyard or slaughter house pen shall be sufficient
<br />evidence that the same are being exposed there for sale; and the fact that any carcass of any cattle, sheep, hog or lamb, or any part
<br />thereof, is found in any slaughter house or any public or private market or place, dressed and prepared as such meats usually are for
<br />market, shall be deemed sufficient evidence that the same is for sale for human food.
<br />1739.23 DOG FOOD.
<br />No person, firm, corporation or association shalt sell, manufacture or store any fresh or moist dog food, except in airtight
<br />sealed containers, in any place where food intended For human consumption is manufactured, sold, served or prepared unless all the
<br />meat or other products used in such food are obtained from fully inspected animals and unless all the ingredients contained''{n such dog
<br />food be fit for human consumption. All fresh or moist dog food shall contain one percent by weight of granular charwal mixed
<br />throughout such Food.
<br />1739.24 SCREENING.
<br />Every door or window opening to the outer air in a place where food is manufactured for the propose of sale shall, from May 1
<br />to October I S of each year, be provided with screens of a wire mesh having not less than fourteen wires to the inch, and shall be so
<br />constructed and maintained as to prevent the ingess of flies. However, the official charged with the enforcement of this Sanitary Code
<br />may by a written order suspend the operation of this section whenever in his judgment such course appears proper
<br />1739.25 ANLYIALS.
<br />No animals, excepting cats or ferrets, shall be suffered or permitted to be in any place where food is manufactured far the
<br />purpose of sale.
<br />1739.26 VERMN'AND RODENTS.
<br />No building nor portion of any building shall be used as a place where food is manufacmred for the purpose of sale uNess it is
<br />free from vermin and rodents.
<br />1739.27 RUBBISH.
<br />No rubbish or other material that is not used in the process of manufacturing or packing food, food ingredients or food
<br />products shall be suffered or permitted in a place where food is marmfacmred for the purpose of sale.
<br />CHAPTER 1741
<br />Bottling Works
<br />1741.01 DISPOSAL OF BROKEN BOTTLES OR GLASS.
<br />No person shall place or keep any broken bottles or particles of broken glass elsewhere than in a receptacle for rubbish of the
<br />Type required by ordinance. No broken glass shall he permitted to remain in any bottling works more than one week unless i[ is stored in
<br />a box or tin and sprinkled witlt lime or other dielufective substance so as to prevent any foul odor emanating therefrom, and so as to
<br />prevent the breeding of insects or vermin therein or thereon.
<br />1741.02 PLUMBING REQUll2EMENTS; DRAINAGE.
<br />No portion of any s[rucmre shall be used as a bottling works unless the portion so used is provided with a floor of wood or
<br />masonry material so constructed as to drain freely i¢to a public sewer, and unless such structure is provided with running water
<br />1741.03 WALLS AND CEH.INGB.
<br />No room in any building shall be used as a bottling works unless Ne walls and ceilings of such room shall have smooN
<br />surfaces throughout, and shall be of tight constrnotlou, free from projections and crevices, and unless such walls and.ceilings are painted,
<br />whitewashed, scraped, scrubbed ar cleaned whenever the official charged with the enforcement ofihis Sanitary Code shall so order
<br />1741.04 CLEANLIlVESS AND REPAIR.
<br />Every place used as a bottling works, all yards and appurtenances thereof and all plumbing and drains therein or thereon, shall
<br />be maintained thoroughly clean and in good repair and free from any accumulation of filth, garbage or other waste.
<br />1741.05 SYRUP ROOM.
<br />The process of compounding syrups or flavoring extracts shall be conducted in a room separate and apart from all other
<br />portions of any bottling works and shall be conducted in a room adequately ventilated and provided with windows or a skylight having a
<br />total window area of at leas[ one-tenth of the floor area of the room.
<br />1741.06 CLEANING BOTTLES.
<br />Every bottle or other container in which liquids are placed shall be thoroughly cleaned after each separate use thereof by
<br />washing for not less than ten minutes in a three percent alkali solution at a temperature of not less than 125 degrees Fahrenheit and again
<br />washed and rinsed in a potable water, unless such cleaning and washing shall have been affected to an equal degree of thorougMess and
<br />efficiency by reporting to other methods which are approved by the o%cial charged with the enforcement of this Sanitary Code. This
<br />alkali solution shat( be maintained at a density of not less than three percent and shall be entirely renewed at least onceeach week. No
<br />such bottles, after being cleaned, and before being filled, shat! be kept or allowed to stand, unless with [he mouth down or covered.
<br />1741.07 STOPPERS.
<br />No person shall, for the purpose of co¢taining a beverage, use any bottle that is fitted with a plunger stopper or other stopper
<br />which is not entirely withdrawn from within the bottle whenever such bottle is opened. No stopper, cap, cork or part of any hottle or
<br />container that has been used and which is not imperviousshall again be used.
<br />1741.08 LABELING WATER.
<br />Every container ofwater that is prepared or offered far sale, other than natural water, shall bear a Zabel at the top of which shall
<br />appear the word "ARTIFICIAL" or the word "IMITATION" and such word shall be in letters of a size not less than the largest letters of
<br />any other portion ofthe label, andas prominently displayed.
