"Dwelling unit" means any room or group 6f rooms, or any part thereof, Located within a dwelling and forming a single
<br />habitable unit with facilities which are used or intended to be used for living, sleeping, cooking and eating.
<br />1703.08 FOOD.
<br />"Food" means and includes all substances except drugs used or intended to be used for human consumption, including eggs,
<br />flavoring extracts, fish, meat, vegetables, fruit, water, beverages, confections, condiments, preservatives, chemicals and colors, whether
<br />mixed or combined, used or manufacured or sold for use in food.
<br />1703.09 GARBAGE, REFUSE, LITTER.
<br />"Garbage", "refuse' or "litter" means the animal and vegetable waste resulting from the handling preparation, cooking and
<br />consumption of food, or the substances as set forth in Section 521.08 of the General Offenses Code; or solid waste accumulations
<br />consisting of garbage, household trash, yard debris and business trash; or all discarded man-made materials including but not limited tq
<br />waste materials, building materials; trash, refuse and yard debris.
<br />1703.10 RVFESTATION.
<br />"Infestation" means the presence, within or around a dwelling, ofany insects, rodents or other pests.
<br />1703.11 OCCUPANT.
<br />"Occupant" means any person, over one year of age, living; sleeping cooking or eating iq or having actual possession of, a
<br />dwelling unit or rooming unit.
<br />1703.12 OPERATOR.
<br />"Operator" means any person who has charge, care or control of a building, or part thereof, in which dwelling units or rooming
<br />units are tet.
<br />]703.13 OWNER.
<br />"Owner" means the owner(s) or occupant(s) of the premises, including a purchaser in possession, a mortgagee or receiver in
<br />possession, a life tenant, a lessee or joint lessees of the whole thereof or any other person, firm, corporation or
<br />fiduciary in control ofthe premises
<br />1703.14 PERSON.
<br />"Person' means a natural person, individual, firm, paMershig corporation, company, society or association, and every agent,
<br />officer or employee of any [hereof This term shall impart both the plural and the singular as the case may be.
<br />1703.15 PLACE OF ASSEMBLY.
<br />"Place of assembly" means arty church, theater, lunch room, meetivg room, davice hall, school or auditorium, exposition hall,
<br />passenger depot, or any building or portion of any building in which twenty~five or more persons congregate far religious or
<br />entertainment purposes, or to witness performances or exhibitions, or to hear speakers, or to listen to music.
<br />1703.16 PLUMBING.
<br />"Plumbing" means and ivcludes all of the following supplied faoilities and equipment: gas pipes, gae-burnivg equipmbut, water
<br />pipes, garbage disposal units, waste pipes, water closets, sinks, installed dishwashers, lavatories, bathtubs, shower baths, installed
<br />clothes-washing machines, catch basins, drains, vents and any other similar supplied 5xmres, together with all connections to water,
<br />sewer or gas lines.
<br />1703.17 ROOMING FIOUSE.
<br />"Rooming house" means any dwelling or that part of any dwelling containing one or more rooming units, or any part thereof, in
<br />which space is let by the owner or operator, who resides in the dwelling to three or more persons who are not husband or wife,. son or
<br />daughter} father or mother, or sister or brother of the owner or operator, or in which space is let to one or more persons by an owner or
<br />operator who does not reside in the dwelling. The term as defined shall include foster homes and hotels.
<br />1703.18 ROOMING UNIT.
<br />"Rooming unit" means any room or group of rooms forming a single habitable unit used or intended to be used for living and
<br />sleeping but not for cooking and eating purposes.
<br />1703.19 RUBBISH.
<br />"Rubbish" means combustible and noncombustible waste materials, except garbage, and [he term shall include the residue from
<br />the burning of wood, coal, coke and other combustible material, paper, rags, cartons, boxes, wood, excelsior, robber, Leather, hee
<br />branches, yard trimmings, tin cans, metals, mineral ma0eq glass, crockery and dust.
<br />1703.20 SHOP.
<br />"Shop" means any building or portion of any building in which any product, article or thing is manufactured, sold, repaired,
<br />cleaned, prepared, assorted, assembled, packed, treated, handled or stored, for profit, sale or hire, provided that five or more persons are
<br />engaged or employed in such building or portion of building at any one time,
<br />Offices where clerical work is performed and stores, mercantile establishments and other places where anything is sold, shall be deemed
<br />shops, provided five or more persons are engaged or employed in such building or portion of building at any time. The places where food
<br />is prepared, manufacured or cooked for sale or kept for sale or sold, shall 6e deemed to 6e shops regardless of the number of persons
<br />employed or engaged therein
<br />1703.21 SUPPLIED.
<br />"Supplied" means paid for, furnished or provided by or under the control of the owner or operator
<br />1703.22 TENEMENT HOUSE.
<br />"Tenement house" means any house or building or portion thereof which is occupied in whole or in part as the home or
<br />residence of three or more families living independently of each other and doing their cooking upon the premises, and includes apartment
<br />houses, flat houses, flats and other houses so occupied. Dwelling houses occupied as the home or residence of less than three families
<br />shall be deemed to be tenement houses under either of [he following conditions,
<br />(a) If built in connected rows or terraces.
