Proposed Ordinance 53-10. Substituted October 18, 2010. <br />(d) Identification Signs. One wall or ground identification sign not exceeding eight square <br />feet shall be permitted, provided the wall sign is located on the street side of a multiple <br />family building and provided any ground sign located in front of the setback line has <br />received approval from the Board of Building Standards. <br />(e) Real Estate Signs. One temporary double face freestanding or wall sign advertising the <br />sale, lease or rental df the premises or part of the premises on which the signs are <br />displayed, not exceeding five square feet in area, shall be permitted for each lot. <br />(f) Canopy Signs. One canopy sign shall be permitted. The total area of one face of the <br />sign shall not exceed five square feet and the vertical dimension of the sign shall not exceed <br />twelve inches and the lowest structural member shall not be less than eight feet from the <br />sidewalk grade. <br />(g) Awning Signs. One awning sign shall be permitted. The total area of one face of the <br />sign shall not exceed six square feet and the vertical dimension of the sign shall not exceed <br />twelve inches. Billboards, portable signs and roof signs shall <br />not be permitted in the ML and MH zoning districts unless permitted by specific provisions of <br />this chapter. (Ord. 25-96. Passed 10-7-96.) <br />1329.09 SIGNS: COMMERCIAL, OFFICE Cl; COMMERCIAL, RETAIL C2; GENERAL <br />BUSINESS C3 DISTRICTS. <br />Accessory signs in the Commercial, Office C1; Commercial, Retail C2; General Business C3 <br />Districts be designed, erected, altered, moved and maintained, in whole or in part, in <br />accordance with these regulations. <br />(a) Functional Types Permitted. Business signs, development signs of a temporary nature, <br />directional signs, identification signs, informational signs, nameplates, political signs, real <br />estate signs, temporary signs, mural and bulletin boards on the lots of public or semipublic <br />institutions. <br />(b) Structural Types Permitted. Awning, canopy, ground, ,wall, mural and window signs. <br />Projecting signs may be permitted if approved by the Board of Building Standards. <br />(c) Maximum Area and Number Permitted. <br />(1) Maximum sign face area. The maximum sign face area of all permanent signs <br />permitted for each separate use occupying a building or unit of a building shall <br />be related to the frontage of the building or unit thereof, as determined by the <br />following formula: <br />Maximum sign face area = (W x 1.5) square feet, except that the total in <br />all cases shall not exceed 120 square feet. <br />The elements of such formula being defined as follows: <br />"Maximum sign face area" means the total area of one surface of a <br />permanent. sign as defined in Section 1329.04 (a). <br />Page 24 of 28 <br />
