Proposed Ordinance 53-10. Substituted October 18, 2010. <br />"W" means the frontage of a building ad defined in Section 1329.04(b) <br />(2) Bulletin boards. One bulletin board not exceeding thirty square feet in area or <br />eight feet in height may be located on the premises of a public charitable, or <br />religious institution, but not less than fifteen feet from a street right-of-way line; <br />indirect illumination shall be permitted. <br />(3) Canopy signs. A sign attached to the underside of the canopy at a ninety <br />degree angle to the street, intended for pedestrian visibility. The total area of <br />one face of the sign does not exceed five square feet, the vertical dimension of <br />the sign does not exceed twelve inches, and the lowest structural member is not <br />less than eight feet above the sidewalk grade. <br />(4) Development signs. One temporary development sign not exceeding fifty square <br />feet in area and ten feet in height shall be permitted on the lot upon which a <br />building is under construction. Signs shall be removed on the issuance of a final <br />occupancy permit or one year after the period is issued, whichever date occurs <br />first. <br />(5) Directional signs. Two directional signs each not exceeding two square feet in <br />area shall be permitted on any building or lot, but not less than five feet from <br />any lot or street right-of-way line. <br />(6) Ground signs. One ground sign not to exceed forty square feet in area and the <br />top of the sign shall not exceed ten feet in height above the sidewalk grade. <br />(7) Informational signs. One informational ground sign not exceeding six square <br />feet in sign face area may be permitted on any lot, but not less than five feet <br />from any lot or street right-of-way line. <br />(8) Nameplates. One nameplate, not exceeding one square foot in area for each <br />store or office unit in the building, but not exceeding a total of eight nameplates <br />per building, shall be permitted. <br />(9) Real estate signs. One temporary double face freestanding or wall sign <br />advertising the sale, lease or rental of the premises or part of the .premises on <br />which the signs are displayed, not exceeding five square feet, shall be permitted. <br />(10) Projecting. signs. May be permitted in cases where innovative design is <br />demonstrated and where no potential safety hazard to motorists or pedestrians <br />is created, subject to review and approval by the Board of Building Standards. <br />(11) Awning signs. One awning sign shall be permitted. The total area of one face of <br />the sign shall not exceed six square feet and the vertical dimension of the sign <br />shall not exceed twelve inches. <br />Page 25 of 28 <br />
