Communication from Human Services Director Gelsomino regarding 2018 ServeOhio <br />Award -H2O. (Pg. 31) <br />Motion by Mr. O'Leary, seconded by Mr. Anderson to receive and file the communication. <br />John Habit, ServeOhio Commissioner <br />Mr. Habit presented the 2018 ServeOhio Award to H2O. He remarked that it is a highly <br />competitive and difficult decision made annually by the Commission. He explained the <br />mission and work of ServeOhio, remarking on its 20 -year history of volunteer engagement. <br />ServeOhio celebrates service and volunteerism by recognizing outstanding volunteer <br />organizations in each region of the state. Mr. Habit described the impressive work of H2O <br />and the impact it has had on the community. He presented a proclamation from the Governor <br />recognizing H2O. He concluded remarking that organizations like H2O shape the values that <br />youth cant' with them for a lifetime. <br />8. Communication from Public Works Director Beno regarding Authority for Purchasing <br />through Consortiums & Purchasing Organizations. (Pg. 32) <br />Motion by Mr. O'Leary, seconded by Mr. Anderson to receive and file the communication. <br />Discussion: Director Beno clarified that the Resolution authorizes membership into a <br />purchasing consortium but does not authorize specific purchases. Any purchase over $7,500 <br />will go through Board of Control. There is no membership fee to join the consortium. <br />Motion adopted. All members voting yea. <br />9. RESOLUTION NO. 8996 -18 — A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or <br />otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, <br />authorizing the Director of Finance to enter into an agreement with Buy Board <br />Cooperative Purchasing to continue the efficient purchasing with the City of Lakewood <br />and to permit direct purchasing from said agency without the necessity of advertising and <br />bidding as required in Lakewood Codified Ordinance §111.04, Bidding.
