RESOLUTION 2020-36 — A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise <br /> to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, appointing <br /> as the ex-officio non-voting member of the Tree Advisory & <br /> Education Board for a three year term beginning January 1, 220 and ending December 31, <br /> 2022. (pg. 18) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to refer Resolution <br /> 2020-36 to Committee of the Whole. <br /> Discussion: Councilmember Bullock stated that he has attended the last two meetings of the <br /> Tree Advisory Board and that the board is off to a good start. He suggested that a new <br /> councilmember serve as an ex-officio non-voting member. <br /> On the motion: A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner <br /> Nays —None <br /> Motion passed. Communication from Councilmember Kepple, President O'Malley, Mayor George, and <br /> Lakewood City Council members regarding 21 Day Racial Equity and Social Justice <br /> Challenge. (pg. 19) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Kepple to receive and file <br /> the communication. <br /> Public Comment: Laura Rodriguez-Carbone—2069 McKinley Ave.—Ms. Rodriguez-Carbone <br /> expressed hope that the challenge can spur additional communication with Lakewood's <br /> refugee and minority communities. <br /> Paige Robar of the YWCA Greater Cleveland provided a link in the meeting's chat to the <br /> YWCA's 21 Challenge. She gave an overview of the organization's mission and the 21-day <br /> challenge. <br /> President O'Malley shared the comments of Sydney Heckler who urged Council to push for <br /> concrete change in policy regarding policing and education to create tangible change for people <br /> of color in Lakewood. <br />
