Discussion: Councilmember Kepple thanked Paige Robar and Councilmember Shachner for <br /> their contributions to the communication. <br /> Vice President Litten thanked his colleagues for bringing the opportunity to the floor. He noted <br /> that he participated in the challenge back in February and spoke to the eye-opening experiences <br /> it provided. <br /> Councilmember Rader thanked the YWCA for its great work. He noted that businesses in the <br /> Lakewood Chamber of Commerce have expressed interest in participating. <br /> Councilmember Shachner thanked Councilmember Kepple for bringing the issue to the <br /> forefront and Ms. Robar for her continued work with the YWCA. <br /> Councilmember Neff highlighted the opportunity to change as a city to promote racial equity <br /> and equal opportunity. <br /> On the motion: A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner <br /> Nays —None <br /> Motion passed. RESOLUTION 2020-37 - A RESOLUTION to commit to participation in and promote <br /> participation in the 21 Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge program designed <br /> to build social justice habits,particularly those dealing with issues of race,power,privilege, <br /> and leadership. (pg. 21) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Kepple to adopt Resolution <br /> 2020-37. <br /> A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner <br /> Nays —None <br /> Motion passed.
