In addition to reducing exposure to carcinogens, <br /> the new station incorporates a new dorm and bathroom for females and also eliminates the risk of <br /> exiting the station onto Kenilworth. <br /> Chief Dunphy provided department statistics on the number of calls for service, number of runs, <br /> number of transports, and other data points. He concluded that 2021 was comparable with <br /> previous years with these data points. He added here that 3 AEDs were added to the community <br /> Chief Dunphy announced that the department successfully applied for and received two grants <br /> this year. They were: <br /> • $1,200 EMS grant from the State of Ohio <br /> • $178,882 for a new cancer-reducing ventilation system at all three stations (10% <br /> matching funds required) <br /> Chief Dunphy reported that fire staff sought out and applied for these grants with help from the <br /> City's consultant Justin McCaulley. <br /> Chief Dunphy discussed other 2021 highlights including: <br /> • Apparatus rotation <br /> • Review of general orders <br /> • Converted paper files to electronic <br /> Chief Dunphy discussed the department's training and education which emphasizes the <br /> development of new hires and succession planning. He discussed the role of the training <br /> committee, which provides guidance to new members and accountability for tracking of their test <br /> scores. He discussed the new training system, which provides a higher level of engagement and <br /> hands-on experience. Additionally, he mentioned the department's new mentor program, <br /> established in 2021. <br /> Chief Dunphy discussed the roles and duties of the Fire Prevention Bureau. In 2021 the bureau <br /> increased the number of fire investigations to help find out what happened to cause fires and <br /> prevent them from occurring in the future. <br /> Chief Dunphy summarized the department's 2022 planned projects and programs which include: <br /> • Providing a community paramedic program <br /> • Initiating a car seat fit stop program <br /> • Replacing turnout gear(a 5 year cycle) <br /> • $100,000 software program upgrade <br /> • Ribbon cutting at Station 42 <br /> • Establishing an Emergency Operations Center at Station 41 <br /> • Training and transitioning 9 new members into the department <br /> Chairman Bullock invited Captain Sambula to speak on behalf of IAFF Local 382. Captain <br /> Sambula remarked that the firefighters work well and closely with Chief Dunphy and that Chief <br /> Dunphy proactively includes all staff on the budget process and is responsive to their <br /> 4 <br />
