Councilmember Baker expressed pride in Lakewood's actions to <br /> support the LGBTQIA+ community. <br /> Public Comment:Pete Finnerty Mr. Finnerty thanked Council and the Mayor for their <br /> support. Mr. Finnerty works for Grow Well Cleveland, which works closely with the <br /> LGBTQIA+ community and serves as president of the board of Colors+ Youth Center based in <br /> Fairview Park. <br /> Shawn Shawn, a Lakewood youth, expressed their thanks for the city's acceptance of the <br /> LGBTQIA+ community. She shared that the support goes a long way in helping members of the <br /> community and giving them hope. <br /> On the motion: All members voted in favor. Motion passed. Reso. 2022-21 adopted. <br /> 5. Communication from President Litten regarding proposed August recess. (pg. 6) <br /> Motion by President Litten, seconded by Vice President Kepple to recess for Council's Regular <br /> August Meetings, which would have been held on August I" & August 15'', 2022. All in favor. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> 6. Report from Vice President Kepple regarding ADA Transition Plan Task Force meeting <br /> held May 24, 2022. (to be provided) <br /> Vice President Kepple delivered the following oral report: <br /> The ADA Transition Plan Task Force met on Tuesday, May 241h. <br /> Secretary Michelle Nochta presented the fourth progress report from Steve Metzer ofDLZ who <br /> has assisted with various items, including preparing the community accessibility survey, <br /> reviewing the accessible parking in the rear lot of City Hall and has been reviewing and <br /> compiling the site visit data. DLZ is working to schedule the next site visit later this month. <br /> Residents are encouraged to help us make the City more accessible by participating in the <br /> survey which is available at https://www.lakewoodoh.gov/accordions/ada-task force% Videos <br /> and minutes ofADA Transition Plan Task Force meetings are also available at that link. The <br /> Report a Problem app and webpage should be used to report immediate needs and <br /> accommodation requests. <br /> Members were joined by special guest Ms. Krista Allison, who was recently crowned Ms. <br /> Wheelchair Ohio. Ms. Allison described her experiences visiting various restaurants in <br /> Lakewood and the importance of van accessible ADA compliant parking in the commercial <br /> corridors. Ms. Allison stated that she is often limited to which restaurants she may visit based <br /> on the proximity of van accessible parking. Other members of the task force agreed that many <br /> ADA parking spots in Lakewood do not accommodate a van and the ramp necessary for their <br /> wheelchairs. Ms. Allison suggested a program that loans wheelchairs to provide policy makers <br /> and staff with the experience of using a wheelchair in the City to better understand the <br /> 3 <br />
