2022-43 to the Public Works and Sustainability Committee. All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> 13. Communication from Director Vargo regarding the 2023-2025 Collective Bargaining <br /> Agreements for Firefighters and Paramedics. (pg. 042) <br /> Motion by Acting President Kepple, seconded by Councilmember Bullock to receive and file <br /> written communication. All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> 14. RESOLUTION 2022-44 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or <br /> otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, <br /> authorizing the Mayor of the City of Lakewood, Ohio, to enter into an Agreement with <br /> the Lakewood Firefighters Association for a three-year period commencing January 1, <br /> 2023 and ending December 31, 2025, and ratifying that Agreement. (pg. 044) <br /> Motion by Acting President Kepple, seconded by Rader to adopt Resolution 2022-44. <br /> Discussion: Councilmember Bullock suggested the referral ofResolution 2022-44 to the <br /> Committee of the Whole for more information on the administration's approach and future <br /> financial goals. <br /> Councilmember Rader asked for an outline of how past conversations have been held regarding <br /> the contracts mentioned in Resolution 2022-44. <br /> Law Director Vargo explained the collaborative approach of the Administration. An agreement <br /> was reached after several weeks of negotiation between the employees and the Administration. <br /> Councilmember Rader asked about where the Administration began in their negotiation <br /> regarding the contracts. <br /> Law Director Vargo explained that the negotiations are still active. <br /> Councilmember Rader mentioned that he trusts Law Director Vargo and the Administration's <br /> approach. He also asked Fire Chief Dunphy about his opinion on the contract for the <br /> employees. <br /> Chief Dunphy expressed his approval for the contract included in Resolution 2022-44 and <br /> mentioned the high morale ofLakewood's fire department. <br /> Councilmember Bullock suggested an executive session to learn more about the specifics of <br /> negotiations and the contract included in Resolution 2022-44. <br /> Councilmember Baker mentioned his trust for the Administration but expressed that the Council <br /> may benefit from the executive session to speak about sensitive information. He also made <br /> mention of the 30 days Council has to make a decision before Resolution 2022-44 is approved. <br /> 5 <br />
