worst public health issue behind pollution and smoke, which I thought was a shame. I wanted to
thank the Administration, the Law Department, the Planning Department, and the Police
Department for all the work they have put into this, and I think we'll have some good outcomes
for the community.
Motion by President Litten, seconded by councilmember Bullock, to receive and file the oral
report. All in favor. Motion passed.
5. Report from Public Works Committee regarding meeting held November 7, 2022. (to be
provided)
Councilmember Rader delivered the following oral report:
Today we met at 5:30 and discussed Resolution, 2022-43, which is a resolution that
authorizes the Administration to go after money from ODNR for our skatepark, version 2. The
proposal is to add a skate bowl and halfpipe. It costs about$500,000 and this grant covers
about$250,000, should we get it. We had questions from my colleagues, and I think the biggest
topic was about public engagement. We know this is an issue that the public cares about
greatly. There was a study done on this in 2018. A lot of work was done on this in 2018 and
there has been some work to update it. Getting ahead of this and getting this application in this
week is very important We did recommend this for adoption. All councilmembers who spoke
agreed that we have to engage the public in a robust conversation, as we did with the pools, to
make sure that this is going to be what the public has been advocating for,for so long.
Motion by Councilmember Rader, seconded by President Litten to receive and file the oral
report. All in favor. Motion passed.
6. RESOLUTION 2022-43 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately providing it
receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of the Council, or
otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law,
authorizing the City Engineer to file Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant
Application with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) for Lakewood
Skate Park Phase II project and to authorize matching funds to satisfy the requirements
of the grant. ORDINANCE 32-2022 - AN ORDINANCE to take effect immediately provided it
receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or
otherwise to take effect and be in force at the earliest period allowed by law, to approve
the editing and inclusion of certain ordinances as parts of the various component codes
of the Codified Ordinances and to provide for the publication of such new matter.
