MaryAnne Manasan
1372 Annette Court

To Whom it May Concern,
I have been a (part time) resident of Rockport Square since 2017. I live in Arizona full
time, grew up in Ohio and wanted to purchase a 2nd home to which I could "getaway"
from my stressfuljob/lifestyle out West whenever I need to shut down. My home is
actually the 1st to be built (of the Ryan Homes division) on the North side of Detroit.
Security was always a concern, as my home was the first one standing, but never
became an issue throughout the years. The surrounding neighbors were quiet,
respectful and of course, the allure of Lakewood always made me feel like this was a
great investment into where I would ultimately like to settle down. Imagine a town where
I could walk everywhere, ride a bike to restaurants, have friends over to chat outside on
my tiny deck. Unheard of in most towns near a hustling downtown.
This last year, I have seen a HUGE decline, due to the neighboring apartment complex
and its recent tenants. In January, I visited and on 01/25/23 my friends dropped me off
from dinner at 8:30 p.m. There was a group of men behind the white garage on Beach
Parkway (unsure what was going on) and my friend told me to rush into my garage.
Itwas also a bit shocking to see a lineup of policemen storming the top apartment
building facing my home at 10:15 p.m. that same night. With about 6 police cars
swarming the front, I'm still unsure what took place.
I visited in April and every night that week, blasting music and cars that would park, shut
off lights and wait for people in the front (off Beach parkway) became worrysome. It's 2
a.m. on a weekday, why were these people parking in the front of my home sitting in
their cars?
Do I need to go into depth about the fire caused by tenants and destroyed the 2nd
building on Beach Parkway?
I recently came through in June. 06/30/23 there was a fight in front of my home at about
11:30 p.m., another at about 1:45 a.m. (07/01/23) and an extremely long fight (lasted 45
min) at 4:30 a.m. that same morning. THREE fights in one night? It wasn't even the
holiday, and I was already worried. Sure enough, holiday anger and a fight on
Wednesday morning (07/05) at about 4:45 a.m.
Another fight had started about 4:30 a.m. (07/10/23) and thankfully the police were
already called in. 4 policemen interviewing a woman in front of my living room window? I
was almost thankful I was flying out of Ohio on 07/12, which is sad.
I couldn't leave without hearing one more fight. On the night (of 07/10)heading into
morning (of 07/11) the same woman who was being interviewed in front of my living
room (on 07/10) had returned. Police were already there. They all left and as I started to
