General Meeting. <br /> <br />A discussion followed between Law Director Vargo and Councilmembers on whether to try to <br />draft the amendments on the spot, or to defer to ensure the final language is sound. It was agreed <br />that given the technical nature and extent of additional edits discussed in committee, it would be <br />best to defer so everyone could carefully review the final version. <br /> <br />On the motion: President Litten withdrew his original motion and made a new motion to defer, <br />seconded by Councilmember Bullock. All members voted in favor. Motion passed. Ordinance 18- <br />2023 deferred. <br /> <br />11. Report from Finance Committee regarding meeting held November 20, 2023 (to be <br />provided) <br /> <br />Finance Chair Shachner incorporated his previous remarks regarding Ordinance 18-2023 into this <br />report and made the following additional remarks: <br /> <br />“We started our budget hearings. We heard from Director Dillinger from Human Resources, we <br />heard from Director Rancatore to give us a budget overview.” <br /> <br />Motion made by President Litten to receive and file the report, seconded by Councilmember <br />Baker. All in favor, motion passed. <br /> <br />12. RESOLUTION 2023-55 – A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise <br />to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, appointing Sam <br />Pearson, Jessica Cotton, and _____ to the Anti-Racism Task Force for <br />two-year terms beginning January 1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2025. (introduced <br />11/6/23) (pg. 46) <br /> <br />Motion made President Litten and seconded by Councilmember Bullock, to defer Resolution <br />2023-55. All in favor, motion passed. Resolution 2023-55 deferred. <br />13.RESOLUTION 2023-57 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise <br />to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, appointing <br /> ____ to the Planning Commission for the five-year term beginning January <br />1, 2024 and ending December 31, 2028. (introduced 11/6/23) (pg. 47) <br /> <br />Motion made President Litten and seconded by Councilmember Bullock, to defer Resolution <br />2023-57. All in favor, motion passed.
