All in favor, motion passed. <br /> <br />38. Communication from Director Leininger regarding the Active Transportation and Safe <br />Streets for All (SS4A) Plans. (pg. 157) <br />After Director Leininger read the communication, President Litten invited up Jenna Thomas for <br />public comment on the topic. <br />Jenna Thomas, 14121 Clifford Ave, Cleveland – Ms. Thomas shared that she lives in Cleveland, <br />but grew up in Lakewood, biking and walking around the community. She is the Advocacy & <br />Policy Manager at Bike Cleveland and is on the stakeholder committee for the Active <br />Transportation Plan. She said that overall, she is pleased with the final result of the plan, which is <br />rooted in equity and safety. She shared some highlights of the plan, and provided some feedback <br />on things the City could consider to strengthen the plan, such as incorporating raised sidewalks <br />to improve pedestrian safety. She also encouraged the City to get started on implementing the <br />plan as soon as possible, so that it gathers momentum and doesn’t end up sitting on a shelf. <br />President Litten made a motion to receive and file the communication, seconded by <br />Councilmember Bullock. All in favor, motion passed. <br />In response to a question from Councilmember Bullock, Director Leininger explained that <br />adopting a Safe Street For All Action plan is the first step in being qualified to apply for funding <br />under the 2021 Federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. He said he cannot recall the exact cost <br />share match, but that the funds are available over the next five years. <br />In response to a question from President Litten, Director Leininger responded that one of the <br />great things about the Safe Streets For All Plan is that it pulled all of the traffic data into a <br />singular document and mapped it all out so the City can identify the intersections that are having <br />the most issues, and figure out how to prioritize and address them. He said we will need to <br />continue to track the data as we begin to implement the plan, to make sure that the actions are <br />successful. <br />14 <br /> <br /> <br />
