M.V. ORDINANCE N0. 84-11 <br />Page -2- <br />505.03 Duties of Animal Warden <br />It shall be the duty of the Dog Warden to enforce the provisions <br />of this Chapter and the laws of the State relative to the licensing, <br />impounding, boarding and disposition of dogs within the municipality, <br />provided, however, that no police officer or other officer of this <br />Village, charged with the responsibility of enforcing the Ordinances <br />of this Village and the laws of the State, shall be relieved of such <br />responsibility. <br />505.04 Identification <br />The Animal Warden shall be provided with a badge designating his <br />office and authority and such other uniforms, vehicles. and equipment <br />necessary to carry out his duties. <br />505.05 Pound <br />The Animal Warden shall provide a suitable place, either within <br />or without the corporate limits of the municipality, for the keeping <br />of impounded dogs in a humane manner, and the making of proper <br />provision for the feeding and caring of such dogs. <br />:.b <br />505.06 License and Registration Required <br />All dogs kept, harbored or maintained by their owners in the <br />Village shall be licensed and registered in accordance with the laws <br />of the State, if over three (3) months of age. <br />505.07. Impounding <br />It shall be the duty of the Animal Warden or any police officer <br />to apprehend any dog found running at large and to impound or cause to <br />be impounded such dog in the pound or other suitable place. The <br />Animal Warden,, upon receiving any dog, shall make a complete registry, <br />entering the breed, .color and sex of such dog and whether licensed. <br />If licensed, he shall enter the name and address of the owner and the <br />number of the license tag. <br />505.08 Notice to Owner and Redemption <br />Not later than two (2) days after the impounding of any dog, the <br />owner shall be notified, or if the owner of the dog is unknown, <br />written notice shall be posted for three (3) days on the bulletin <br />board in the lobby of the Village Hall describing the dog and the time <br />and place of taking. The owner of any, dog so impounded may reclaim <br />such dog upon presentation of a license, if the dog was unlicensed or <br />untagged, and upon the payment of an impounding fee of Five Dollars <br />($5.00) plus boarding charges at the rate of One Dollar ($1.00) per <br />day. <br />
