-~,~ <br />ORDINANCE NO. 80- .N <br />Page -2- ~ <br />~~ <br />signal for unauthorized intrusion in a manner in which the <br />person monitoring the alarm can readily ascertain whether <br />the signal caused is fire or unauthorized intrusion. <br />971.03 ALARMS CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO POLICE OR FIRE STATION: <br />(a) Upon proper application by any person to connect <br />installed equipment to the Mayfield Village Police Station or <br />to the Mayfield Village Fire Station to receive emergency <br />alarms, the Mayor, or his authorized representative, may issue <br />a permit for such connection. <br />(b) Connection to the Police or Fire Alarm Panel shall <br />be contingent upon the applicant having obtained permission <br />from the company which maintains the alarm panel in the station <br />to make such connection, provided that such company shall not <br />deny permission if the equipment is compatible and proper <br />charges are paid to said company. <br />(c) No unit shall be installed or connected unless it is <br />approved by the Fire Chief if designed to detect smoke or <br />fire or by the Police Chief if designed Ito detect unauthorized <br />intrusion, or by both if designed to detect both smoke or fire <br />or unauthorized intrusion. The Building Commissioner, or his <br />representative, shall inspect and approve the electrical installation <br />or, upon failure to approve, shall state the reasons therefor, which <br />the person making the installation shall forthwith correct. <br />(d) The Village will, within its capabilities, endeavor to <br />accommodate every reasonable application for connection to <br />the police or fire alarm panels. <br />971.04 FEE REQUIRED: <br />(a) For each alarm connected to the Police or Fire Alarm <br />Console there shall be no charge during the first year that such <br />alarm is connected, provided, however, that the alarm remains <br />connected to the Police or Fire Alarm Console and in service for <br />a period not less than two (2) years. In the second year of <br />service, and for each year thereafter, for each alarm connected <br />to the Police or Fire Alarm Console there shall be a charge of One <br />Hundred Twenty Dollars ($120.00} per year, payable semi-annually, <br />in advance. <br />(b) For purposes of this Section, each alarm connected to both <br />the Police and Fire Alarm Consoles shall be considered a separate <br />connection with a separate charge for each such connection. <br />(c) Any person sixty-five (65) years of age or older who <br />~. has an alarm system connected to his residential premises as <br />contemplated in Section 971.03 shall be entitled to a discount <br />of ten (10) percent on the annual charge as required in subsection <br />(aj~ hereinabove and on the initial permit fee as required by <br />Sec~ion 971.10. This discount shall apply only to those residential <br />premises where the head of the household is age sixty-five (65) or <br />over. This discount is non-transferrable. <br />971.05 LOCAL ALARMS: A permit for the installation of a <br />local alarm which, when activated sounds a horn, bell, buzzer <br />or other type of audible alarm, shall be required if the sound <br />created by the alarm is audible beyond the premises served. <br />
