<br />tions. One set of approved plans sand specifi-
<br />cations shall be retained by the Building
<br />Official; one approved set shall be kept at the
<br />site of work at all times while the work is in
<br />progress and shall be open to inspection at all
<br />reasonable times by the Building Official or
<br />his authorized representative.
<br />1505.08 Time limitation.
<br />Any permit issued shall become invalid
<br />unless the work authorized by it shall have
<br />been commenced within six months after its
<br />issuance or if the work authorized by such
<br />permit is suspended or abandoned for a
<br />period of one year after the time the work
<br />is commenced; provided that for cause, one
<br />or more extensions of time for periods not
<br />exceeding ninety days each may be allowed
<br />in writing by the Building Official.
<br />1505.09 Work started without a permit.
<br />Where work, for which a permit is re-
<br />quired by this Dwelling House Code, is
<br />started prior to obtaining such permit, the
<br />fees required by said permit shall be doubled
<br />but the payment of such double fee shall
<br />not relieve any person from fully complying
<br />with the requirements of this Dwelling
<br />House Code or any other law of the State of
<br />Ohio or ordinance of this Municipality.
<br />1505.10 Permit fees.
<br />The Building Official shall authorize the
<br />issuance of the permits required by this
<br />Dwelling House Code after the determina-
<br />tion by him of the fees due and the deposits
<br />to be made in accordance with the ordinances
<br />of this Municipality.
<br />~: CHAPTER 7. INSPECTION.
<br />1507.01 Right of entry.
<br />Upon presentation of proper credentials,
<br />the Building Official may enter at reasonable
<br />times any building, structure, or premises in
<br />the Municipality to perform any duty im-
<br />posed upon him by this Dwelling House
<br />Code.
<br />1507.02 Existing buildings.
<br />Before issuing a permit, the Building Of-
<br />ficialmay examine the building for which an
<br />application has been received for permit to
<br />enlarge, alter, repair, move or demolish.
<br />1507.03 At site.
<br />The Building Official shall inspect all
<br />building construction at the intervals or
<br />periods stated in Section 1561.04 and inspect
<br />such building at any time and from time to
<br />time as he may determine as necessary or
<br />desirable.
<br />1507.04 AEpoinf.,ofmanufacture.
<br />When deemed necessary by the Building
<br />Official, he shall make an inspection of ma-
<br />terials and assemblies at the point of man-
<br />ufacture or fabrication.
<br />1507.05 Inspection organization.
<br />The Building Official may accept reports
<br />of inspectors of accredited inspecting organi-
<br />zations, but no approval called for by any
<br />provision of these requirements shall be
<br />based on such reports unless the same are in
<br />writing and certified by a responsible officer
<br />of such organization.
<br />CHAPTER 9. PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION,
<br />1509.01 Stop orders.
<br />Upon notice from the Building Official
<br />that work on any building or structure is
<br />being done contrary to the provisions of this
<br />Dwelling House Code or in a dangerous or
<br />unsafe manner, such work shall be immedi-
<br />ately stopped.. Such notice shall be in writ-
<br />ing and shall state the reason for stopping
<br />the work and the conditions under which
<br />the work may be resumed, and such notice
<br />shall be delivered to the owner of the prop-
<br />erty,. or to .his agent, or to the person in
<br />charge of the work at the site.
<br />1509.02 Revocation of permit.
<br />The Building Official may revoke a permit
<br />or approval issued under the provisions of
<br />this Dwelling House Code in case there has
<br />been any false statement or misrepresenta-
<br />tion as to a material fact in the application
<br />or plans on which the permit or approval
<br />was based.
<br />1509.03 Criminal action.
<br />Any person, firm or corporation violating
<br />any of the provisions,of this Dwelling House
<br />Code shall be deemed guilty of a misde-

<br />Gas Piping and Appliances
<br />drawing shall be submitted with the applica-
<br />tionfor apermit, showing the proposed loca-
<br />tion of the piping as well as the size of the
<br />different branches.
<br />1595.03 Approved standards for equipment
<br />and installations.
<br />(a) General. All house piping and all gas-
<br />fired appliances shall be installed in con-
<br />formity with the requirements of this Dwell-
<br />ing House Code and in conformity with ac-
<br />cepted safe practice.
<br />(b) Safe practice. Except as provided in
<br />this Dwelling House Code or in statutes, or
<br />in regulations promulgated by authority of
<br />statute, or in other ordinances, conformity
<br />with the requirements of the following
<br />Standards will be recognized as conformity
<br />with accepted safe practice:
<br />1. Standards of the National Board of Fire
<br />Underwriters for the Installation of Gas Pip-
<br />ing and Gas Appliances in Buildings, NBFU
<br />Pamphlet No. 54.
<br />2. Listing, Approval and Installation Re-
<br />quirements for gas burning appliances and
<br />accessories, as listed in Section 1591.07.
<br />3. Approval Requirements for Domestic
<br />Gas Ranges-ASA 221.1, Z21,1a,
<br />4. Listing Requirements for Flexible Gas
<br />Tubing-ASA 221.2.
<br />5. Approval Requirements for Refrigera-
<br />tors Using Gas Fuel-ASA 221.19.
<br />6. Listing Requirements for Semi-Rigid
<br />Gas Appliance Tubing and Fittings-ASA
<br />221.24.
<br />7. Listing Requirements for Attachable
<br />Gas Water Heating Units-ASA 22126.
<br />8. Installation of Gas Piping and Gas Ap-
<br />pliances in Buildings-ASA 221.30,
<br />9. Approval Requirements for Gas Coun-
<br />ter-Appliances-ASA 221.31.
<br />10. Listing Requirements for Gas Appli-
<br />ance Connectors of Flexible Metal Tubing
<br />and Fittings-ASA 221.32.
<br />(c) Power of Board. The Board of Build-
<br />ing Code Appeals may change, modify, or
<br />supplement any of the requirements of such
<br />Standards when deemed necessary in the in-
<br />terests of public safety or to further define
<br />accepted safe practice.
<br />1595.04 Approval of materials.
<br />(a) Basis for approval. All gas piping,
<br />tubing, fittings, accessories, appurtenances,
<br />and gas appliances shall;be of a type con-
<br />forming to the Standards set forth in Section
<br />1595.03 or which have .been listed or ap-
<br />proved by UL, AGA, or:by. other accredited

<br />agencies or by the Board of Building Code
<br />Appeals.
<br />(b) Seal o f approval or listing symbol, No
<br />person shall connect or install within the
<br />Municipality any piping, tubing, fitting, ac-
<br />cessory, gas appliance or appurtenance,
<br />which does not bear the seal of approval or
<br />listing symbol of Underwriters' Laboratories,
<br />Inc., or the American Gas Association, or
<br />other accredited agency.
<br />1595.05 Curb cock and main shut-off.
<br />(a) Curb cock. All gas service piping
<br />shall be equipped with an approved curb
<br />cock placed in an accessible location outside
<br />of the building.
<br />(b) Main shut-o);f cock. Every system of
<br />gas house piping shall have an accessible
<br />main piping shut-off cock located immedi-
<br />atelyadjacent to, and on the service pipe side
<br />of, the meter.
<br />1595.06 Installation and connection of gas-
<br />fired appliances.
<br />(a) Support and connection. Every gas-
<br />firedappliance shall be adequately supported
<br />and so connected to the house gas piping as
<br />not to exert undue strain on the connection.
<br />(b) Clearance for access and operation.
<br />Every gas-fired appliance shall be so located
<br />as to be readily accessible for operation and
<br />adjustment and shall have the clearances
<br />from combustible material or construction
<br />specified in the Standards Listed in Sections
<br />1591,07 and 1595.03 to which the appliance
<br />conforms. When the clearance distance has
<br />not been otherwise established, the Building
<br />Official may prescribe the required clearance
<br />distance,
<br />1595.07 Control of pilot on automatic gas
<br />water heaters.
<br />Every automatically controlled gas water
<br />heater shall have as part of its construction
<br />or assembly an automatic device to shut off
<br />the gas to the main burner or burners when-
<br />ever the flame of the pilot is extinguished.
<br />1595.08 Gas piping and connections.
<br />(a) Materials. All house gas piping shall
<br />be so constructed and installed as to be dur-
<br />able, substantial, and gas-tight. House gas
<br />piping shall be of standard weight wrought
<br />iron or steel pipe with malleable iron
<br />threaded fittings, or iron-pipe-size copper
<br />pipe with threaded copper fittings, or iron-
<br />pipe-size brass pipe with threaded brass fit-
<br />tings, or other approved rigid piping and fit-
<br />tings. Flexible gas hose or semi-rigid appli-
<br />ance connectors may be used where per-
<br />fj.
