Each <br />hydrant shall 'be set on a stone slab or siritilar fotzndation and base of <br />hydrant vrel.lbraced against unexcavated earth at end of trench vrith stone <br />slabs or concrete backing; or it shall be tied to pipe t-rith suitable rods <br />or clamps as directed by z~,ng•ineer. llydran„s ~>ha7.1 be thoroughly cleaned <br />of dirt or foreign matter before setting. 1.11 hydrants must conform with <br />s~cifications of Division of .ater and are subject to its detailed test <br />and inspection. <br />Sec, 10 PLUGGING D~1 N~)S: <br />(a) G1JiV~LiLXL: Standard plugs sha17_ be inserted into the bell ends <br />of pipes, tees, crosses and caps jointed to spigot ends of pipes and <br />fittiziT=;s in t'rze manner ~:pecified above a.nd secured hrith clamps where <br />directed by the ial~.ineer. <br />Sec. 11 COP1Id~CTIOI~[S TO ;;';~.TSTI1~'G i:~~~LINS : <br />(a) G,~I~}I,RAL: l~~herever new mains are to be interconnected with <br />existing mains the Contractor sha17_ remove plugs, caps from outlet <br />fittings, or ez.ds o:C existing distribution mai_ns., and vrhere necessary <br />cttt~ out a nort:ion of the existing main for such I~arposes. The Con- <br />tractor shall install all pipe required to complete the connection <br />to the new main and to .restore service in e1:i_sting main. i;There the <br />connection is to be by ~reans of a pressure tap, branch sleeve and valve <br />the Contractor sha].1 cl.o. all necessary excavation and. backfilling and <br />arrange v~rith and pay to the Division of ~:later o.f the City of Cleveland <br />for all necessary 1r~bor and materi_~1 to make such a connection.
