Sec . 15 CHLORII~lATION: <br />(a) G1i,IdER.~~L: Following preliminary flushing, the newly laid <br />water pipe shall be chlorinated. The processes of chlorinating, the <br />method of procedure, the chlorinating agent, and the rate of. applica- <br />tion shall be determined by the Division of later of the City of <br />Cleveland. The Contractor. shall_ pay to the Division of ?;ater of the <br />City of Cleveland for chlorination or sampling of thE; water at the rate <br />of five cents (5¢) per linear foot for the first tho~zsand feet, and <br />three cents (3¢) per foot thereafter of the water Train proper, ~nri.th a <br />minimum charge of twenty-five dollars (`y25.00). The Contractor shall <br />furnish the necessary labor for excavatin€; and backfilling which wi~.l <br />be required for tl~ze installation of taps for injecting. the chlorine <br />solution, operating pumps and .flushing mains. <br />(b) FIi~4L F'LUSHIP,iG t? IvT~ TEST : Follotiving chlorinat~i on, all treated <br />water shall be thorough~.y flushed from the ncwly 1..aid pipe at its <br />extremities until the replacement ,ryrater throughout its length shall, <br />upon test, .both chemically and bacteriologically, be proven equal to the <br />water quality served the public from the existing vrater supply system. <br />All costs for coloration and flushing, of mains shall be at the expense <br />of the Contractor. <br />Sec. 16 CURB CONNECTIONS: <br />(a) GEIdEi~L: In such locations as may be indicated by Engineer <br />the Contractor shall excavate for house connection betti^reen the water <br />main and a point three feet (3 ~) beyond curb line. 'The connection shall <br />be standard extra heavy lead pipe or copper pipe conforming in all re- <br />spects to the specifications and regairt37:ents of the Division of :rater <br />and of the size i?Zdicated on plan or bid blank. <br />(b) TAPPING: The Contractor shall arrange Z~~rith the Division of <br />TrFater of the City of Cleveland to mai.e the pressure tap, install the <br />corporation cock and furnish any other material ~~hich the Division <br />elects to supply. The connection shall be blocked up vrith stone, brick <br />or concrete to insure a firm support for said coupling and resist all <br />settlements in backfil7_ing.
