The backfill <br />around and to the depth of 3 inches above the top of the pipe shall be <br />made v~tith sand. The Contractor must use special care in placing this <br />poxtion of the backfill so as to avoid injuring or n;cving the pipe when <br />compacting same. On top of the sand the Contractor shall place another <br />layer of crushed lime stone five (5) inches tlri ck o n the entire ord. dth <br />of the trench. On top of the compacted layer of ]_-i:ne stone hydrated <br />lime shall b e then applied in the amount of.' 3~1~. of a pound per square <br />foot of trench.
