Sec . 23 SP;;C IAL RL~UIREi~:~NTS (a) EXAi•°iINATI0I~1 OI' PLA.NS ATv~ SITE: The Contractor shall carefully examine the plans and specifications, and shall make his ovrn estimate of the quantities of work to be done. He shall also carefully examine the site of the work, and at his ovrn expense, he steal]. make his ovrn determination of sub-soil conditions, surface conditions, the locations of all utilities, structures and obstructions, both above and below ground, and all other factors wlii.ch may affect the cost of the work. (b) PROTECTION Or Ui~1DilZ"ROIIND i:idD SUl?~I'11CE STRUCTURES : Unless otherwise s~cified or shovrn on the plans, tale Contractor shall, at his own expense, support, protect, maintain, and if necessary, repair or replace to the complete satisfaction of th.e owners thereof, all under- ground and surface utility structures, drain , seJrers, culverts, water pipes and other such obstructions encountered in the progress of the work which cross the s evrer trench or which ru.n parallel with and out- side the limits of the s evrer trench as defined above., Such responsi- bility on the part of the Contractor shall be in e~°fect t,~rriether or not such obstructions are sho•,nm on tree plans . Unless othexvrise specified, all underground utility structures, drains, sewers, culverts, water pipes and other such obstructions v:~hich run substantially parallel with the sevrer trench and which are encounter- ed within the limits of the sewer trench as defined ab eve and vrhicYi are not shown. on the plans shall be replaced or repaired by the Contractor at the expense of the oyvners thereof at prices to be agreed upon in writing by the j~gineer and Contractor. (c) Cf~i~i; OI' i-;ORP;: The wont must be prosecuted and material placed in such a r;ianner as to offer the least pos~;ible obstruction to traffic. All pipe lines shall be securely plug~~ed at the close of each day's work to avoid any earth, roclt or refuse entering pipe. (d) REGUII"~TIONS: The Contractor shall conform to all rules and regulations pertaining to laying and. care of vrater pipe as adopted by the Council of the l:~iunicipality in v~hich the work is located and as adopted by the Division of later and. Heat of the^. City of Cleveland. The work vrill be subjected at all times to inspection by said Division of i;Tater and tYie l~iunicipal Inspector . (e) TIiv~: The Contractor steal]. proceed with the construction of water main as soon as practicable and steal]. proceed. with such work, diligently effecting the completion of same vrithin the time specified in this contract. (f) USE OE i,'1~IN: The Municipal authorities shall have the right to connect, or to grant permits to connect houses vrith ~zater main, as soon as such laain shall have been laid and' given the tests both for tightness and for purity after chlorination. T).Ze granting of such permits for 'the use of mains, shall not be construed. as an acceptance of .the tivork nor shall the Contractor be alloz~red special compensation for connections made v~rith said mains or for other use of the mains by the l~~iunicipality or authorized. individuals befor. e final acceptance of the work. ,15_
