Members of the Auxiliary Police shall not~be absent from duty or <br />an assignment after volunteering for same, without notification <br />to the Chief of~Police,~or regular officer designated, within a <br />reasonable time, in advance. <br />1$. Members of the auxiliary Police becoming sick or disabled while <br />on duty or an assignment shall report to the Chief of Police or <br />regular officer designated in charge, before leaving their assign- <br />ment, if possible. <br />19. Members of the Auxiliary Police shall promptly make or cause to <br />be made, written reports of all personal injuries sustained by <br />them while on duty. <br />20. Members of the Auxiliary Police shall have in their possession a <br />memorandum book in which they shall record information necessary <br />for the performance of their duty. <br />21. Any member~of the Auxiliary Police desiring a change of duty or <br />assignment, or wishing to express dissatisfaction in connection <br />with the operations of the Auxiliary Police or regular Palice De- <br />partment, shall make a report in writing and same shall be for- <br />warded to the Chief of Police. <br />22. Members of the Auxiliary Police shall not violate any law of the <br />United States, the State of Ohio, or of~ the Village of I~iayfield. <br />23. Members of the Auxiliary Police shall not sleep while on duty. <br />They shall not conduct themselves in a cowardly manner, nor show <br />lack of interest or energy as to amount to gross neglect of duty. <br />21~. Members of the Auxiliary Police shall not willfully and continu- <br />ally violate rules governing the Auxiliary Police or the regular <br />Department of Police. <br />SUGGESTIONS ~~CR THE AUXILI:RY rCLICEAfIAN <br />PUBLIC REL.yTICNS <br />There are a number of virtues in the police profession that interlock. <br />They include courtesy, dignity, and good manners, confidence, and ability. <br />By way of amplifying that statement, it might be pointed out that police <br />dignity includes courtesy, it breeds public confidence. It bespeaks abil- <br />ity and it consists of good manners. <br />Short-cutting any place on the list is like pulling a girder from a <br />steel bridge; it weakens the whole structure. <br />
