The baclfill <br />around and to the depth of 3 inches above the top of the pipe shall ba <br />made with sand. The Contractor must use special care in placing this <br />portion of the backfill so as ~to avoid injuring or moving the pipe lchen <br />compacting same. On top of the sand the Contractor shall place an:~ther <br />layer of crushed lime stone five (5) inches tlii ck o n the entire ~°i dth <br />of the trench. On top of the comnacted layer of lime stone hydrated <br />lime shall b e then applied in the amount of. 3/li of a pound nez• square <br />foot of trench. The remaining baclffill sha]_l be made z~~rith sand, care- <br />fully placed and corripacted by tamping, puddling, or rolling. All pre- <br />cautions shall be taken to eliminate future settlement.
