The Contractor shall give <br />suf:E'iciert notice to the muni cipality or to the Division of ~:iater so that <br />'the VrOi'li may be done vrith the minimum of inconvenier_ce ~to the public z.nd <br />delay to the Contractor. f:il consw?iers affected by such operation sh~':_ <br />be noti~°ied by the Contractor at least one hour before the operation urr~ <br />advised of the probable tune vrller. the service vrill be restored. <br />Sec . 5 L•~YING C1~~S T IROid PIrL <br />(a) G1;I'd1JB,_~L: Contractor shall provide prope?, implements, tools and <br />facilities satisfactory to the I~,ng~ineer for the safe and convenient <br />prosecution of the vrork, All pipe, fittings and valves shall be care- <br />fulJ_y lovrered into trench by means of derricks, ropes or other suitable <br />equipment so as to prevent damage to pipe, fittings or tree coating. <br />Before lovrering and. titinile suspended. the pipe shall be inspected for <br />defects and rung vrith. a ligr~t hammer to detect cracks . Any defective, <br />damaged or unsound pipe and fittings shall be re jetted and replaced vuith <br />a sound pipe or fitting in a satisfactory manner by the Contractor at his <br />own exper_s e. ~! it curt or foreign matter shall b e removed from pipe before <br />being to?~rered. into trench and shall 'oe ltept clean during and after laying. <br />~'.7hen laid all pipe and fittings shall conform to the lines and grades <br />given by the Engineer,. and shall be laid to a firm and even bearing for <br />its full 'length. <br />-6- <br />
