ORDINANCE N0. 85-16 <br />Page -23- <br />area shall be non-illuminated and shall be designed <br />in a manner which does not call attention to the <br />canopy structure. <br />(xi) The Building Commissioner is directed to allocate <br />the total allowable sign space for a building among the <br />individual units as follows: maximum square footage <br />allowed divided by total building frontage resulting <br />in the square footage allowed per frontage foot of each <br />building tenant. <br />(xii) Supplementary Regulations. In addition to the <br />signs permitted herein, in cases where the building has <br />a dock area facing a location other than the street <br />upon which the building fronts, additional signs shall <br />be permitted by the Building Commissioner commensurate <br />with the size and location of the area to be used solely <br />for directional purposes in conjunction with the intended <br />use of the dock area. <br />1185.16 Signs Permitted in All Districts; Standards. <br />Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Chapter, the <br />f ollowing types of signs shall be permitted in any district: <br />(a) Informational Sign. One informational sign not <br />exceeding six (6) square feet in area or four (4) feet in <br />height above natural grade, and located not less than five <br />(5) feet from any lot line. Such signs shall be uniform <br />under standards set by the Building Commissioner. <br />(b) Memorial Sign. One memorial sign not to exceed <br />four (4) square feet in area, provided same is placed flat <br />against a wall or fence. <br />(c) Temporary Signs. Temporary signs announcing any <br />public, charitable, civic, community, educational or religious <br />event or function. All temporary signs shall be located no <br />closer than ten (10) f eet from any lot line, shall not exceecl <br />thirty two (32) square feet in area and shall not exceed six <br />(6) feet in height above natural grade. Illumination is <br />permitted subject to the requirements of this Chapter. <br />(d) Political Signs. Political signs shall be <br />permitted in all zoning districts but may be displayed <br />only in accordance with the following regulations: <br />(i) Such signs shall be located not less than <br />thirty (30) feet from the right-of-way line. <br />(ii) No sign shall exceed nine (9) square feet <br />in area.
