ORDINANCE N0. 86-15 <br />Page -4- <br />"Each member of Council shall have physically resided <br />and been a qualified elector of the Municipality for <br />at least three (3) continuous years immediately <br />prior to his election or appointment, and shall <br />continue to physically reside and be a qualified <br />elector throughout his term of office. A member of <br />Council shall not hold any other elected public <br />office or other employment with Mayfield Village, <br />but may be a Notary Public, a member of the State <br />Militia or Reserve Corp of the United States, unless <br />otherwise prohibited by this Charter. Any member of <br />Council who shall cease to possess any of the qualifi- <br />cations enumerated herein shall forfeit his office, <br />but failure to maintain such qualifications shall not <br />render void or ineffective any action of the Council <br />in which such member has participated. In addition <br />to the foregoing qualifications, no person shall be <br />eligible to serve as a member of Council from a ward <br />unless such person has, for at least one (1) continuous <br />year immediately prior to either his election or <br />appointment, physically resided in the ward to be <br />represented and during such term of office shall <br />continue to physically reside in that same ward." <br />The question to appear on the ballot shall be as follow s <br />(C) Shall the Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio <br />be amended so that candidates for the office <br />of Council must physically reside within <br />Mayfield Village for at least three (3) <br />continuous years immediately prior to their <br />election and shall furthermore be prohibited <br />from holding public employment with Mayfield <br />Village but be permitted to hold other <br />public employment? <br />D. Shall Section 7 of Article III of the Charter of <br />Mayfield Village, Ohio, be amended by deleting the <br />current Section in its entirety and substituting therefor <br />the following wording: <br />'°(a) The Council shall have the power to fix all <br />compensation paid by the Municipality and the <br />salary of its own members except as otherwise <br />provided in this Charter. Any person may be <br />required by the Council, from time-to-time, to <br />furnish a bond for the faithful performance of <br />that person's duties and the Council shall <br />provide that the premium for such bond be paid <br />by the Municipality. The Council shall not <br />increase the compensation for itself or the <br />
