-7- <br />(g) Construction of water supply and waste treatment systems so as <br />to prevent the entrance of flood waters. <br />(h) Pumping facilities or comparable practices for subsurface drainage <br />systems for buildings to relieve external foundation wall and basement <br />flood pressures. <br />(i) Construction to resist rupture or collapse caused by water pressure <br />of floating debris. <br />(j) Installation o£ valves or controls on sanitary and storm drains <br />zqhich will permit the drains to be closed to prevent back-up oE sewage <br />and storm waters into the buildings or structures. Gravity drainage <br />of basements may be eliminated by mechanical devices. <br />(k) Location of all electrical equipment, circuits and installed <br />electrical appliances in a manner which will assure they are not subject <br />to flooding and to provide pratection £rom inundation by the regional <br />flood. <br />(1) Location of any structural storage facilities for chemicals, <br />explosives, buoyant materials, flammable liquids or other toxic <br />materials which could be hazardous to public health, safety and <br />welfare in a manner which will assure that the facilities are situated <br />at elevations above the height associated with the flood protection <br />elevation or are adequately flood-proofed to prevent £lotation of storage <br />containers, or damage to storage containers which could result in the <br />escape of toxic materials into flood waters. <br />SECTION 6.0 PROCEDURE FOR PLAT APPROVAL <br />The procedure £or review and approval of a subdivision plat consists of two <br />separate Steps. The initial step is the preparation and submission of a preliminary <br />sketch plat of the proposed subdivision. The second step is the pxeparation and <br />submission of a final plat together with required certificates. The final plat <br />becomes the instrimment to be recorded in the office of the County Register when <br />duly signed by the Secretary of the Board of Appeals. The subdivider should consult <br />early and informally with the Board of Appeals and its technical staff for advice <br />and assistance before the preparation of the preliminary sketch plat and its forma.l <br />application for approval. This will enable him to become thoroughly familiar with <br />these standards and procedures. Such informal review should prevent unnecessary <br />costly revisions. <br />6.1 PRELIMINARY PLAT REVIEW AND APPROVAL <br />6.11 The Preliminary Plat - The subdivider shall submit in duplicate a <br />preliminary plat to the Board of Appeals. The preliminary plat shall be <br />drawn to a scale of not less than one inch equals 50 feet. The preliminary <br />plat should contain the following information. <br />A. Description <br />(1) Proposed name of Subdivision. <br />
