hazards, reduce the cost of disaster at all levels, and accelerate community <br />recovery after disasters occur. <br />To help guide mitigation efforts, Mayfield Village has adopted the Cuyahoga <br />County All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (CANHMP). The CANHMP identifies <br />vulnerable areas in the. County and assesses the associated risk, develops <br />strategies and priorities to mitigate risk, guides the communities in their risk <br />management activities and provides eligibility to apply for FEMA's Hazard <br />Mitigation Assistance programs (HMA). <br />FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant programs provide funding for <br />eligible mitigation activities that reduce disaster losses and protect life and <br />property from future disaster damdges. Currently, FEMA administers the following <br />mitigation programs: . <br />• Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) <br />• Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program <br />• Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) program <br />10.0 TRAINING AND EXERCISE PROGRAM <br />10.1 Training <br />The Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management (CCOEM) <br />coordinates training opportunities throughout the year for local officials and <br />response personnel. Course schedules are developed to support NIMS training <br />requirements as well as to address responder capability gaps. When <br />appropriate, refresher courses are built in to the schedule to allow for the <br />maintenance of certifications and expertise. The training calendar and <br />registration process can be found at http://ja.cuyahogacounty.us. <br />10.2 Public Eclucati®n <br />Federally-developed resources such as FEMA's Ready materials are used to <br />unify messages and support public outreach.
