ORDINANCE N0.2004-07-PAGE 15 <br />(e.) Vacations shall not be cumulative, but must be taken within the year earned. Any <br />vacation not taken within the year earned shall be forfeited unless specific permission to carry-over <br />vacation time is obtained, in writing from the Mayor. However, full-time employees may cash in <br />any unused balance of vacation up to eight (8) hours at the end of the year at the rate at which it <br />was earned. Full-time firefighters may cash in unused balances of vacation up to twenty-four (24) <br />hours. <br />(f.) Year of employment refers to the twelve (12) month period beginning January 1st and <br />ending on December 31~. <br />(g.) No more than six (6) weeks, one (1) day of vacation time for more than Twenty-Five <br />(ZS) years of service. <br />(i.) The head of each department shall determine the schedule of vacations for the <br />employees thereof. <br />(j.) "Year of Employment" as used in this Section pertaining to vacation schedules means <br />years of employment with Mayfield Village only. However, any employee of the Municipality <br />who has been previously employed in a full-time capacity by the State of Ohio or any of its <br />political subdivisions, providing a letter of verification from the prior public employee is <br />submitted within the 1st year of employment with the Village, is entitled to have such prior <br />service counted as years of employment for the purpose of computing vacation time herein and <br />shall be credited as such on January 1st after initial employment with the Village. <br />
