Agreement Behveen Mayfield Village, Ohio and the International Association Firefighters, Loca12619 <br />ARTICLE 28 <br />VACATIONS <br />Section 28.1. An employee hired January 1st through March 31St shall be entitled to forty-eight 48 <br />hours (two (2) tours) vacation time; April 1st through June 30th; shall be entitled to thirty -six <br />hours (one (1) tour and twelve hours) vacation time, July 1St through September 30th; shall be <br />entitled to 24 hours (1 tour) vacation; October 1St through December 31St shall be entitled to twelve <br />(12) hours (1/2 tour) vacation. For the purpose of computing vacation time all employees shall be <br />considered to be in his/her second year of employment on January 1st of the year following his year of <br />employment. <br />Section 28.2. All vacation time shall be credited to an employee on January 1St of each year and <br />employees may take their vacation at any time within the calendar year, subject to the approval of the <br />head of the department. <br />Section 28.3. In the event an employee voluntarily leaves his employment prior to December 31SC of <br />any year, his vacation time for that year shall be prorated pursuant to the following formula: <br />Accrued Vacation Da.~ x Number of Days of the = Vacation Days Earned <br />365 year already passed <br />In the event an employee has already taken more vacation time than that to which he is entitled at the <br />time he gives notice that his is voluntarily terminating his employment, Mayfield Village shall have the <br />right to withhold all amounts otherwise owed the employee to the extent necessary to reimburse <br />MayfieldV.illage. <br />Section 28.4. Vacations shall not be cumulative, but must be taken within the year earned Any <br />vacation not taken within the year earned shall be forfeited unless specific permission to carryover <br />vacation time is obtained, in writing from the Mayor. Vacation time approved for carryover is to be <br />used in full by June 30th of the following year or it is subject to forfeit. However, employees with <br />unused vacation time twenty-four (24) hours or less, may request that their balances be cashed out at <br />the rate at which it was earned. Such payments will take place as soon as reasonably possible after the <br />end of the year. <br />Section 28.5.
