1145.01 PLANNING AND ZONING CODE 80 <br />(f) "Rear yard" means an open unoccupied space on the same lot with a building <br />between the rear line of the building and the rear line of the lot. <br />(g) "rront yard" means an open unoccupied space on the same lot with a building <br />between the front line of the building and the front line of the lot. <br />(h) "Side yard" means an open unoccupied space on the saxne lot with a builcluzg <br />situated between the building and the side line of the lot and extending through <br />from the street or from the front yard to the rear yard or to the rear line of the <br />lot. Any lot line not a rear line or a front line sha.ll be deemed a side line. <br />(i) "Least dimension" of a yaxd means the least of the horizontal dimensions of such <br />yaxda If tow opposite sides of a yard are not parallel the horizontal dimeYisions <br />between them shall be deemed to be the mean distance between them. <br />(j) "Lot" means a parcel of land occupied by one building and the accessory buildings <br />or uses customaxily incident to it including such open spaces as are required by <br />this Zoning Code and such open spaces as are arranged and designed to be used <br />in connection with such building. <br />(k) "Family" means any number of individuals living and cooking together on the <br />premises as a single housekeeping unito <br />(1) "Dwelling" means a building arranged9 9ntended or designed to be occupied by <br />not more than two families living indipendently of each other and doing their <br />own cooking upon the premises. <br />(m) "Apaxtment house" means a building arranged, intended or designed to be occupied <br />by three or more families living independently of each other and doing their own <br />cooking upon the premises or by three or more individuals or groups of individuals <br />living independently but ha.ving a common heating system and a general dining <br />room. <br />(n) "Apartment" means a room or suite of rooms in an apartment house which room <br />or suite is arranged, intended or designed to be occupied as the residence of <br />a single family, or individual or group of indivi.duals. <br />(o) "Single-family dwelling" means a dwelling either detached or semideta.ched, <br />arranged, intended or designed to be occupied by a single family. <br />(p) "Two-family dwelling" means a detached dwelling arranged, intended or designed <br />to be occupied by two families, one of which has its principal living rooms on <br />the first floor and the other of which has its principal living rooms on the second <br />floor. <br />(q) "Double house" means two single-family dwellings with a paxty wall between. <br />(r) "Nonconforming use" means one that does not comply with the regulations of the <br />use district in which it is situated, <br />(s) "Public notice" of a hearing or proceeding means ten days notice of the time <br />and place thereof printed in a newspaper of general circulation in the <br />Municipality. <br />(t) "Accessory use or building" means a use or building customaxily incident to <br />and located on the same lot with another use or building. <br />(u) "Zoning Code" or "Code" as used in Title Five of this Part Eleven - Planning <br />and Zoning Code means Ordinance 159, passed May 20, 1935, as amended. <br />(Ord. 159.
