Ordinance 97-23 <br />10. No more than six (6) weeks, one (1) day or fourteen (14) tours, six (6) hours of vacation time for more than <br />Twenty-Five (25) years of service. <br />11. The head of each department shall determine the schedule of vacations for the employees thereof. <br />12. "Year of Employment" as used in this Section pertaining to vacation schedules means years of employment <br />with Mayfield Village only. <br />However, any employee of the Municipality who has been previously employed in a full-time capacity by the <br />State of Ohio or any of its political subdivisions, providing a letter of verification from the prior public <br />employer is submitted within the 1st year of employment with the Village, is entitled to have such prior <br />service counted as years of employment for the purpose of computing vacation time herein and shall be <br />credited as such on January 1st after initial employment with the Village. <br />13. For purposes of this Section in computing a day for members of the Fire Department one (1) day shall be <br />equivalent to six (6) hours. For the purpose of providing an example only, a member of the Fire Department <br />with five (5) years of service shall be entitled, pursuant to this Ordinance, to vacation time in the amount of <br />two (2) weeks plus one (1} day, which shall be computed in accordance with this Subsection as five (5) tours of <br />duty plus six (6) hours. An employee in the Fire Department with six (6) years of service is entitled to vacation <br />time of two (2) weeks plus two (2) days, which shall be computed as five (5) tours of duty plus twelve (12) <br />hours. <br />F. Optional Holiday <br />1. In addition to those paid holidays authorized by Ordinance, each pegnanent full time employee shall be entitled,. <br />to three (3) "optional days" as paid holidays. <br />2. Any new permanent full-time employee hired on or after January 1st for the purposes of computing "optional <br />days" shall be entitled to the following optional days in their first year of employment: <br />O to Tonal <br />Davs <br />January 1st through March 31st 3 <br />April lst through June 30th 2 <br />July 1st through September 30th 1 <br />October 1st through December 31st 0 <br />3. The scheduling of such "optional days" is subject to the approval of the Employees' Department Head. <br />G. Holidays <br />The following seven (7) days shall be deemed to be holidays on the dates on which they are observed under <br />the laws of the State of Ohio, unless otherwise designated by the Mayor: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, <br />Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. In <br />addition, the afternoons of Christmas Eve Day and New Year's Eve Day shall also be deemed to be <br />holidays. A permanent full-time employee shall not be required to work on any of said holidays unless in <br />the opinion of his responsible administrative superior his failure to work would impair the public service. <br />Page 11 of 17 <br />
