M.V. ORDINANCE 91- <br />Page 13 <br />they shall be credited.with forty-eight (48) hours for such <br />quarter. <br />b. If the employee is hired after the first fifteen <br />(15) days of the first three (3) quarters of a calendar <br />year, such employee shall be credited sixteen (16) <br />hours sick leave, except in the fire department where <br />they shall be credited with twenty-four (24) hours for <br />such quarter.. <br />c. If the employee is hired between October lst and <br />November 15th of,any calendar year, such employee shall <br />be credited ten (10) hours sick leave, except in fire <br />department where they shall credited with fifteen (15) <br />hours for such quarter. <br />d. If the employee is hired after November 15th of <br />any calendar year, such employee shall not be credited <br />sick for such quarter. <br />4. Each permanent employee who has accumulated in excess of seven <br />hundred twenty (720) hours of sick leave shall be entitled to receive <br />payment for the excess of those hours, except in the Fire Department where <br />they shall be entitled for payment in excess of one thousand eighty hours <br />(1,080). Such payment shall be made at the ratio of one (1) hour for each <br />four (4) hour sick leave hours in excess. The payment shall be made at the <br />time of the first regular payroll in July at the rate of compensation in <br />effect on December 31st of the previous year for such employee. In no <br />event shall an employee be paid for more than one hundred twenty-five (125) <br />hours for each`five hundred (500) hours of sick leave in excess for any <br />given year. <br />5. In the event an employee has no remaining sick leave credit <br />available and he/she is absent due to illness, then upon written request, <br />such employee can buy back sick leave hours purchased by the Village under <br />this section at the average'rate paid to such employee for the total hours <br />purchased in previous years. Due to such option, it is strongly <br />recommended that all employees invest such payment for a future illness <br />that may require them to buy back such time. <br />6. Upon retirement, all full-time forty-hour (40) employees shall be <br />entitled to receive credit and payment for accumulated but unused sick <br />leave not to exceed 240 hours provided that they have been employed by the <br />Village for ten (10) years or more: In the event a full time fifty-three <br />(53) hour employee retires, he/she shall be entitled to receive credit and <br />payment for accumulated but unused sick leave not to exceed 360 hours <br />provided that he/she has been employed by-the Village for ten (10) years or <br />more. For purposes of this Section, an employee shall be considered to <br />Zave retired when such employeetakes action that is inconsistent with any <br />reasonable intent to continue employment with the Municipality.
